Profile
Flamboyant. Sensual. Depraved. All are perfect descriptions for Syzygy. Named after the unification of the Animus and Anima of Jungian Psychology, Syzygy was a failed attempt by Dr. Psyche for the intent of being a stable version of Lumine. Left with a shape-shifting form and an highly advanced calibration system, Dr. Psyche decided to utilize the latter for time stopping weaponry and cryptology. Though technically not a combatant, Syzygy loves the experience of battle, and often will pressure its family to let enter the field. Whether in the field or out, Syzygy loves attention, and will insure its presence is felt where ever it wants it to be felt.
Background
Syzygy was built by Dr. Psyche as an attempt to copy Lumine's Emulation system. While he was building Syzygy during this, he also decided to pop in the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack to pass the time. The soundtrack soon evolved into the movie. And what would grow from the movie is what everyone would know as Syzygy today. The attempt at the emulation system was based on many of rice-sized pieces of energy-producing hardware. Depending on the form, each of the pieces, called 'cogs,' would work together in adjusting the energy and data output to successful 'copy' the character.
A secondary function of the cogs is maintaining psychological stability. Each of the cogs work together to form together a 'collective conscious' which is where Syzygy's personality is derived from. Making judgments on Lumine's questionable psyche, Dr. Psyche made sure that the collective conscious would emphasize on Syzygy's sense of self. The intent was that despite constant Emulation changing and combat, Syzygy would still be able to identify who it is, and not go mad. After a bit of thought, Dr. Psyche decided to base the dominant personality on the dominating personality of the movie slowly consuming him: Frank N. Furter
The factors controlling all of these was a complex system of checks and balances controlled by constant mathematical calculations. In essence, Syzygy's entire body functions as a supercomputer, able to precisely calculate the proper energy outputs however it was needed to be. The requirements to turn a generic energy output into a Ice Cannon, for example, required a large range of secondary requirements to reduce the temperature to freezing levels and the pressure to launch it.
To test the emulation, Dr. Psyche uploaded various sample characters from Rocky Horror Picture Show. In these trials, Syzygy successfully could retrieve these types and interchange them in emulation. These personalities still remain, though Syzygy can only support them for a limited time. Most of Syzygy's attacks, in fact, are based on these personalities, and their energy outputs.
In the short run, though, it became apparent that this was doomed to failure. While Syzygy was capable of emulating different forms, the range of forms was highly limited compared to the Emulation abilities of Lumine and Axl. The reason for this was based on two grounds: The cog system was physically unable to handle the diverse range of types, and the dedication to maintaining a stable personality degraded all other activities significantly as more damage was received.
With the emulation a failure, Dr. Psyche decided to make lemonade. Dr. Psyche began de-emphasizing the emulation portions, stripping away most of the calculations and data space dedicated to energy outputs and personality storage. He then made the calculations focus on complex quantum mechanics. Dr. Psyche redid the diverse energy output system to limit it to a few premade devices, and focused it all into a device he had been hoping to use: A Timestopper.
Finally, Dr. Psyche had Syzygy become a giant radio receiver and transmitter. Each of the cogs are able to retrieve an individual frequency. Syzygy is highly sensitive to these frequencies, and consciously shifts between each of them. Syzygy's dominant personality doesn't think much about it, except as a useful source of gossip. The underlying functions, however, deal with most of the intelligence works.
Now, Syzygy acts as the intelligence for the Psychebots. With modest interception and hacking skills highlighted by its supercomputer-like mindset, it usually enjoys staying back behind base. Its Time Warp permits many security bypasses, and allows it to simply appear and retrieve whatever it needs. Finally, its emulation system, while almost completely gutted, still allows Syzygy to change its exterior form, allowing clever use of disguises for extended information 'gathering.'

One is the relationship between Syzygy's personality and the cogs, which perform two very separate tasks while keeping a single entity. The other is Bass's theory that Syzygy represents the latent concept of bisexuality in all individuals.

We Psychebots are a closeknit clan. You have no chance to survive." Syzygy began winding back, a glow erupting from its pelvis. "Make... your... TIME~" And a white-hot injection of plasma erupted straight for its brother, Sing in the middle of it all!
