Profile

Courage. Honor. Chivalry. These are the things Sword Man lives by. While Knight Man prides himself on being the antithesis of a knight, Sword Man exists to be the embodiment of one. He is polite on and off the battlefield and refuses to prey on those he feels are weaker. Those he feels are his equals will be treated with respect and assured a fair fight, or as fair as possible barring interference. This code of honor tends to give an air of unintentional condecendance and puts him at odds with many of his fellow Robot Masters. He respects Yamato Man for his similar code of ethics, but the two usually are at odds dues to their "cultural" differences, Yamato's Eastern ways and Sword Man's European. He sees Dr. Wily as his lord and will fight for him at all costs, though he disagrees with the dishonorable tactics Wily and some of the other Robot Masters use. However, he feels obligated to fight and is never willing to back down. In battle, he uses his split body design and a ancient giant sword, stolen from a museum by Wily, to create the fearsome Flame Sword and Fire Slash attacks. Outside of battle, he tends to be lost, knowing only the life of the Sword and nothing else. However, he laments this not, as his is the life of a soldier, and the life of a soldier is subservience.

Background

Trivia/Cool Facts

  • Sword Man speaks using an outdated form of medieval England style English known generally as "King James English", speaking in a manner similiar to the following: "I doth challenge ye". This method of speech tends to be annoying (and often incorrect), especially to Guts Man who thinks it is stupid.
  • Knight Man is the more aggressive counterpart to Sword Man and also obviously the much older of the two, having been built before Sword Man. Knight Man is not afraid to smash and bash senselessly like a psychopath. Sword Man however takes the more thoughtful, conservative, and sane approach. Their speech habits tend to be a near mirror of each other, so it can be easily argued that they suffer the same speech "impediment". Perhaps Doctor Wily didn't study the King James English when he programmed both Knight Man and Sword Man, leading them both to make their own changes at random.
  • Sword Man's sense of honor can sometimes make him less well liked by his brothers. A good example is that if given a choice of targets between a school in session and a bus station, he would take the bus station simply because only a monster would attack a schoolhouse, and he is by no means a monster.
  • He also doesn't wish to harm anyone who doesn't deserve it, giving civilians the opportunity to evacuate a combat zone safely before engaging in combat with any remaining defenders or law enforcement.
  • Likewise, he doesn't fight those which he feels are weaker than he is, nor is he always willing (or able) to kill those that can match or exceed his skills.
  • One such example is with the Maverick Hunter Riot, whom he had beaten but allowed to retreat without further aggression or injury. Another example is Repliforce officer Spiral Pegasus whom he has effectively disabled twice and on both occasions has allowed his opponent to continue to live, but only because Sword Man recognized the need to retreat from battle on both occasions and made certain his opponent could not pursue.
  • In a dodgeball game between the Robot Masters and the Maverick Hunters, Sword Man pulled a surprise single-handed (no pun intended) victory over the Maverick Hunter team after his teammates were knocked out of the game. In this game, he was aided by Centaur Man, the team captain Enker, and Cut Man against the Hunter team of Rock, Steel Massimo, Alpha, and Liese Schreiner.
  • In a battle against General, Sword Man was used as a bludgeoning instrument to clobber Bass. This made the Robot Master loose his temper to a point where he grabbed the first thing his hand could reach and attempted to use it in kind on General's face. Unfortunately, this turned out to be Bass and the attack only succeeded in hitting General in the knee. As a result of being used in such a manner, Bass became infuriated and promptly used his bustered Thunder Beam on both Sword Man and General. The retaliation from Bass rendered Sword Man unconscious and he was practically mute for the next two days afterward.
  • Because Sword Man speaks King James english (however broken it is at times), he was also given a brittish accent to go with it in an effort to appear like he came out of England itself. The flaw is of course that nobody knows when or where he was built and they wouldn't care. Part and parcel with the accent was a programmed personality and behavior matrix to make him even act british. A good way to trip this programming is to insult the king (or queen) of England at the time of his construction (or any time since) or insult Albert Wily in plain sight. Its a very good way to get a punch in the face. Or to serve him an imitation Earl Grey and be caught at it (he memorizes the taste of teas like you would memorize an act in a movie). That's another good way to earn a punch in the face. He takes these things VERY seriously. Wily sure did a lot of research to get Sword Man's personality and behaviors so passable except for the proper use of King James english. That he futzed up on big time.
  • Sword Man beat Hard Man in a Thundercage match after an incident where Axl used his Emulation ability to copy Hard man in a fight. As a result of the confusion, Bass forced the two to fight and as expected, Sword Man came out on top. That is at least what would have happened if he hadn't fallen over a few seconds later. Because of that slip, it was rulled as a double KO.
  • As ordered by Bass, Sword Man and Hard Man were to be Enker's vallets for a week. This even extended to when the Hunters and Repliforce attacked Skull Quentin. In the attack Hard Man made references to Enker while Sword Man was busy fighting off troubles of his own. Unfortuantely, the references were not clear-cut which only made matters worse. By the end of the battle, Enker and Hard Man had fought without Sword Man's required assistance and Hard Man reported that failure to Bass.
  • Once Bass got wind of the apparent failure, he renamed Sword Man "Wendell P. Wily" with the P standing for Percy. All digital records of Sword Man's name and personal logo both inside the Master computers and across the Internet were replaced with the aforementioned nickname and a logo of Sword Man trying to answer a ringing phone with his sword. This also came with a great reduction of his internal Robot Master authority and reassignment to the Delta Squad which in turn made his Joes 'rebel' and they went to work for Daryn. They also started stealing his tea and posessions. This indignity is so much that Sword Man is currently in the most foul of moods and refuses to accept or use the name Bass has given him. This of course does not make Bass happy.
  • Later on January 1st 2221, Bass rescinded his order for Sword Man to be named Wendell. This occurred immediately after Protoman set off three Force Metal bombs in Eclipse, Able City, and Elysium. The explosions wiped all three cities from existence and caused severe effects including knocking the moon slightly out of orbit and the release of the Willimente strain of the T-Virus which spawned millions of zombies worldwide. The retraction of the order couldn't be documented at the time due to the loss of Eclipse and the entire Robot Master information network. It is however only a temporary thing as far as Bass is concerned. The situation at the time may or may not have been the lead reason behind this.
  • Elec Man was almost defeated by Soldier Stonekong while assisting in a resupply run in Hong Kong. The run was for materials to construct a new E-Ring system, computer network, and an "air conditioning" system to cover as much of San Angeles as possible. A day or two after the event, Elec Man asked Sword Man and Metal Man for advice on dealing with opponents that had the advantage of being able to exploit his armor's weakness to blade weapons. This was a first for the Alpha so far as Sword Man knows.

Miscellaneous Info

Sword Man is a Robot Master who sometimes thinks, in the privacy of his own mind, that Doctor Wily's methods are not always agreeable as they conflict with the Knight's Code of chivalry. His private thoughts on Wily's orders and methods are irrelevant however, as he carries them out just the same no matter how objectionable they may be, rationalizing it as a necessity to make people see that the Wily Way is the only way. This difference of opinion is due to Sword Man and Wily have different views on how the world should be brought under Wily's rule. He doesn't speak of what he thinks of some of Wily's orders for obvious reasons, namely concerning Wily's genius programming skills and of course maybe even Bass kicking his hindquarters so hard that he'll be unable to walk for a few years. He doesn't want to end up like Tengu Man after the said Master was recovered and punished for his betraying of Dr. Wily and his defection from the Robot Masters.

Also, Sword Man tends to be the most rational Robot Master ever built by Doctor Wily. While he does have moments of what is known as "Wily Family Insanity", he acts more stable and civil than his brothers and can hold conversations with people with less need for caution, although those conversations can become violent upon a moment's notice as is the case with any Robot Master trying to be social in public places.

Historical Events

  • Unknown Date, 2219: In an attack on Tora Bora, Sword Man faced his brother Tengu Man in combat deep in the depths of the Ra Moon base. In the tight confines of the caves, Sword Man's melee tactics gave him a great advantage over his traitorous brother and in the end had quickly and successfully disabled Tengu Man. Tengu was quickly thereafter carries out and returned to Dr. Wily for punishment and reprogramming.
  • June 1'st, 2219: Sword Man took part in the final assault against Ra Moon's forces, having entrenched himself in the bunker that was built under the concert stage. Part of the assault took place under the stage in the form of an a pair of Omnidroids named Mega Water S and one other such droid. The assault severely damaged Sword Man, though he made it overall much easier for the allied forces to dispose of the Omnidroids underground. His role however, was minimized due to the fact that he is still a Robot Master no matter what kind of respectable heroism he may pull off in emergencies like this one.
  • July 16th-28th, 2219: Sword Man took part in the defense of at least two or three Color Relay outposts, one of which was in the antarctic and a second of which was on an oil drilling platform in the middle of the ocean. While he survived those encounters for the most part, naturally the relays were destroyed. In the ensuing battle against allied forces that trapped the WilyDrome in a subspace realm, Sword Man lost his Force Metal enhancements along with the rest of his Robot Master brothers due to the effects of the subspace dimension that they were transported into. The effects have proved so far to be seemingly permanent and irreversible.
  • November 11th-December 1st, 2219: Sword Man becomes trapped in an alternate dimension as a result of the malfunction of an experimental dimensional stabilizer constructed through the efforts of Repliforce scientist Prismatic Spider and Maverick Hunter scientist Auto. Along with several fellow Robot Masters that were trapped along with him, he was directed by an extra dimensional being voluntarily to assist in constructing a barrier around the city of the "original" San Angeles as a means of protecting it from invasion by inter-dimensional beings with a hunger for human flesh and android/reploid parts. This barrier worked out rather well.
    • Sword Man's alternate self was not all that different from the norm except in that he was less forgiving of his brothers who didn't join Ballade with him. In this mindset, he threw a honor aside momentarily to sneak attack Bomb Man from behind. However, he also showed later on that he does care for some people, standing up in defense of the population of an entire two blocks of the alternate San Angeles against an attack by Color Man which was later interrupted by Zero. These two blocks, it was learned, were considered by Sword Man to be his territory, although no legitimate ownership actually existed. In this battle, Sword Man was assisted in retreating by said population after he tried unsuccessfully to use Zero as a gigantic baseball bat to clobber Color Man. Zero, unable to finish off Sword Man, had to settle for knocking Color Man out instead.
  • January 27th-28th, 2220: In a long battle that was conformed to have been initiated by Protoman, numerous Robot Masters swarm Neo-Tokyo in a mass retaliation strike against the freshly disavowed Maverick Hunter. Sword Man is among the Robot Masters which participated, along with Heat Man, Bass, and even Crash Man. However, Colonel was assisting Protoman and helped stall the overwhelming numbers of Robot Masters long enough for various allied forces to arrive. Shortly before they did though, Protoman used a literally freshly bustered Thunder Beam to knock Sword Man clear off his feet and out of battle. Later, Heat Man self-detonated in a core breech meltdown which resulted in a weapons grade nuclear blast that demolished several blocks of Neo-Tokyo to an alarming extent.
    • As a result of the blast, Sword Man e-ringed and his only available memory and personality backup is over a month old, thus he is in the dark as to a good few things and has a lot of catchup reading to do.
      • The entire attack broke the delicate truce that was in place for the Battle and Chase games. Disney Universe, the event managers, had called a meeting to determine what kind of severe penalties to exact in order to reinstate the truce for the final days of the competitions. Later, the Battle And Chase committee determined that all the people who took part in the battle would be banned from participating in the soccer finals.
  • Thursday, April 19th, 2220: Sword Man entered the Film Noir universe with the goal of finding and talking sense into the Doctor Wily of that world who was actually working as a slave for the Yakuza. Bomb Man had other plans, and through a twist managed to emply the help of the alternate Tron Bonne. Unfortunately, Tron was quickly attacked by Dark Kanissa who intended to assasinate her. With help from Bomb Man and other sources, Sword Man beat Kanissa down and delivered the final blow that forced the assasin to retreat. It has been noted that this battle was the hardest he had ever fought in a long time, comparible to the battles during Ra Moon's seige against Earth. He rather enjoyed the challenge, even though he took some near crippling hits. He also made a note to stay far away from any other Dark Kanissas he may run into in the future, as the one he fought was bad enough.
  • Saturday, May 26th, 2220: Repliforce and Maverick Hunter forces raid the Wilydrome in a rescue attempt in order to free Ten and Chi. Shino Sakki breaks off from the main forces to disable the drone support of the drome from its heart and stumbles into Sword Man in the squadron barracks. A battle ensues and ends nearly two hours later in the sound and flawless defeat of Shino by virtue of conceding the duel and retreating back the way he came. However, his attempts to assist his fellow masters fails miserably and the destruction of the drome's power core causes the base to collapse and destroy itself which in turn forces the Robot Masters to abandon the facility.
  • Sometime between June 1st and 30th - 2220: Eclipse is constructed on the moon. It was Sword Man's suggestion to construct the city and on a couple of occasions he takes part in defending it from Mavericks and outside criminals. In these defense measures he deals significant damage to Agile but is unable to defeat the X Hunter. He later went to an action figure convention to destroy a figurine that portrayed Odessa Rock royally owning Magna Bass, and event that had actually occurred. This figurine was perceived by Sword Man as an outrageous insult, and try as he might he could not damage let alone destroy the offensive toy before the Bonnes stole it in their own infiltration operation.
  • Thursday, July 26th, 2220: Sword Man took part in a defensive counterassault against Teisel Bonne, Tron Bonne, and Doctor Psyche. The three criminals raided Eclipse's military-industrial zone with intend to loot everything they could find. Against them alongside Sword Man was Color Man and Flame Man. Both Color Man and Flame Man fell to the invading trio, though Sword Man stubbornly refused to give in to the invaders. He successfully kept the criminals in the military-industrial zone (which was Psyche's plan the entire time it seemed) as Gyro Man came for backup. It wasn't enough however as Sword Man started to reach the limits of both his endurence and agility against both Teisel and Psyche's heavy combat armor. He lasted quite a while dodging their attacks, but as stated, eventually the enemy gained the upper hand and he was forced to retreat while Guts Man and Quick Man arrived. The new backup was enough to convince the invading pirates and Psyche to leave with what they managed to steal (which was quite a bit).
  • Tuesday, November 13th, 2220: For the last month Sword Man took occasional support roles in Doctor Wily's war in San Angeles. He had always been beaten back in some manner and never showed much enthusiasm for his parts. That is until November 13th when he followed Bass into a Hunter controlled area of San An and watched Bass start a melee just by kicking over heir grill. Besides himself and Bass, Daryn was present with Shadow Man and Pirate Man. Hunter forces included but were not limited to Zero, Brianna Sullivan, and Layer. Rock later arrived to assist. Sword Man reluctantly took part in a four-on-one battle with Zero and landed the knock-out blow on the crimson hunter. This act caught Rock's attention which ultimately ended in an utter smackdown against Sword Man that involved two plasma blasts from Rock and the Winnebago of Justice blaring its stero ghettoblaster at the max. Both Rock and bass bustered Sword Man after the sound blast from the Winnebago knocked him unconcious.
  • Saturday, March 15th, 2221: Sword Man participated in an assault on Eurasia in an attempt to stop Weil from using it as a weapon. Tron's intelligence showed Weil was up to no good, though she couldn't tell exactly what beyond "doom doom doom" kind of rants. Expecting the worst, she ordered the Robot Masters to mount up and attack. They were joined by Irregulars, Hunters, and even Repliforce in their attack. However, they were unable to proceed very far before Blazing Flizard intercepted them and unveiled a new armor form with which the Weil Number engaged them with. He was later joined by a newly resurrected Omega, and Sword Man shifted his focus entirely upon the cyborg "Savior", performing considerably well against is opponent despite Omega's heavy offensives with the help of the temporary allies that were present last night. He did not get the killing blow like he wanted, but he is still satisfied with the victory as he managed to rescue some civilians and claim a stolen Stratovarius Mandolin as his own for his collection of antiquities.

Other

Skills: Sword has been programmed with knowledge of numerous styles of swordplay, though he usually prefers the Western Medieval style used by the Knights of the era. Also, he has learned of the codes of honor Knights of Medieval era usually took and has promised to live by such, despite the realization that many times, those who touted the code never always followed it. However, this gives him all the more reason to adhere to it.

Command Notes

Dr. Wily sez: Among the Robot Masters, Sword Man is among the most dilligent and focused on the task at hand, earning him command of Theta Squadron. He tends to prefer simple and clear-cut solutions.
