Character Data

"I would rather save the world with an open hand, than a closed fist."

Profile

Singularity Shrike is known largely for his willingness to help his fellow being, regardless of their origin. Once a Repliforcer, Sing joined the Irregulars upon the end of his enlistment. After the Protoman Bombings, Sing found himself at the head of the Irregular movement until Epsilon's return. Things changed very quickly, and not all of the changes were good. Unable to reconcile his own moral compass with the new Irregular direction, Sing struck out on his own for a while. Shortly after the last battles of the Ragnarok, he was invited into the Maverick Hunters for his willingness to stand up to those he still calls friends. Sing owns a mildly successful art gallery and sculpture shop in Paris, where he works closely with LEGIONS. In combat, Sing uses martial arts, gravity manipulation, and superheated strikes to bring a swift end to the violence.

Random Facts

  • Despite being proficient with firearms and spears, Sing eschews the use of weaponry, preferring to use mastery of his own mind and body to fight. This is largely due to a reluctance to take any life, regardless of their crimes or employers. Sing feels that he should be prepared to feel, and carry, the weight of any life that he takes with his own two hands.
  • Sing has that a hand in one combat-related killing, during the Ides of March when he assisted Chloe in killing the man who had murdered Alpha and controlled the bio monster who had killed Chroma Bee.

History

April 23, 2211: Singularity Shrike was first activated. He was built to house a gravity-effects generator to assist in testing the effects of the force of gravity on various metals and other materials used for aerospace work.

March 2212: Parcel Peregrine is constructed to serve as a sort of test platform for various materials. The Reploids quickly become as close as brothers, and generally enjoy an idyllic life.

December 2212: A Maverick attack on their owner’s company leaves the two Reploids orphaned. They wander to try and scrape together a life of some sort, and end up falling in with a bad crowd of abusive humans.

May 15, 2213: Parcel Peregrine snaps under the rising amount of abuse both he and Singularity Shrike suffer at the hands of their new masters, and kills ten men. Without hope of intervention by the Repliforce or the Maverick Hunters, Sing is forced to confront and retire the Reploid he considered his younger brother. Grief, rage, and doubt lead him to wander the planet for five years, living off of the land, doing odd jobs for repairs and maintenance while he tries to figure out what to do with his life.

May 15, 2218: Singularity Shrike has made his decision. He signs up for Repliforce in hopes of making the world a better place. He goes through Basic Training, receives his hardware upgrades, and goes to work. His first notable action is the Siege of Skull Monument, where he fought back to back with the Colonel against Enker and pair of Devils. It does not end well.

July 2218: Singularity Shrike is promoted to Executive Officer of Repliforce’s ill-fated Internal Affairs Division. Sing resigns from that post a month later, not keen on the inherent distrust in the Repliforce that his position seems to require. Storm Owl blasts him in the reviews for this decision.

December 8, 2218: Sing is among the first-response teams to deal with the crashed Irregular spacecraft. Mission plans are drawn up for an expedition team to Mars; Sing does not get selected for experience reasons.

February-June 2219: Sing has an ill-fated relationship with the Repliforcer Ten. It ends up failing miserably as Ten lives up to her reputation as the RF Bicycle. Sing eventually toys with the idea of getting involved with Desert Dolphin, but this does not go anywhere, as he is still conflicted by his feelings for Ten.

April 10, 2219: Singularity Shrike saves the life of James Houseman the Fifth. James eventually becomes that bad-ass the world knows as Kraft.

May 8, 2219: Sing is nearly killed as Blues seemingly betrays the world to work for Ra Moon.

June 7, 2219: Sing hears of Blues’ pardon. He is not pleased that Protoman gets a free pass for nearly destroying the Fortress Five, killing seventeen and nearly killing a lot more.

August 6, 2219: Sing visits Kraft while Houseman is getting himself back into the swing of life. They fight Shadow. The Dopplerbot is forced to retreat.

August-September 2219: Sing is 2IC of the Force under Storm Owl tasked with assisting the Australian Government following Sigma's assassination of most of Australia’s Executive branch of government.

May 2220: Ten and Chi are captured by Doctor Wily and the Robot Masters. The Alliance scrambles to bring about a method to rescue them. Singularity Shrike volunteers, repeatedly, to get into Hope Squadron. General denies the request, repeatedly, concerned that the Lieutenant would not be able to keep a cool head and thus jeopardize the mission.

May 27, 2220: Ten and Chi, due to the injuries at the hands of Doctor Wily and the Robot Masters, are forced to retire from the Repliforce. Sing views this as a massive failure on the part of the Alliance. With his contract due to expire, Sing opts to take advantage of Repliforce’s Swords to Plowshares Program.

June 1, 2220: Sing is downgraded to acceptable civilian hardware levels, and discharged from the Repliforce. Using money made from his metal sculptures, he applies for a standard construction Reploid license, and goes to Heracorps for musculature upgrades. "Nest Impressions" opens for business in the Giga City Main Concourse.

June 2, 2220: Singularity Shrike legally changes his name to Sing, and joins the Irregulars.

Fall 2220: Sing contributes several works to Chroma Bee's art exhibit in Berlin. During this time, Sing also receives a commission to put up a set in London he entitles The Challenge. The work is placed in Regent's Park, an area of town with a heavy reploid population. It is also during this time that Sing tries his hand at writing political essays, as evidenced by his "Locke" essay concerning pressing young reploids into military service before they can have a life on various Reploids Rights forums.

January 1-18, 2221: Sing struggles to hold the Irregulars together in the face of Epsilon's apparent death, while attempting to prevent the displaced Mavericks from gaining a further foothold in Giga City. He succeeds in the former, and fails horribly in the latter; especially in the face of Epsilon's return. Epsilon re-announces the goals of the Irregular movement, moments before Sing wakes up in Hunter Medical following a failed attempt to defend the Eurasia Station from Euro-Arcadian forces. Sing's presence, mixed with misgivings on all sides and the arrival of Epsilon to retrieve Sing, causes an almost confrontation between Epsilon and the Maverick Hunters.

January 20, 2221: Sing, in the wake of Epsilon's organizing of the now-enlarged Irregular movement, finds himself promoted to third in command of the cause's standing army. Epsilon cites Sing's work in holding the Irregulars together, along with "overwhelming competence," led the Irregular leader to grant the artist this position. Sing seems to be going along with this despite his misgivings concerning now working under people whom he would have been fighting not three weeks before.

Early February, 2221: Sing and Siren undertake to kidnap Vincente Sumiyama. The mission fails. Sing is not sure what bothers him more: that he failed, or that he tried in the first place. He takes a week off, throwing himself into rescue work in Europe with an almost suicidal level of abandon. At the end of the week, Sing tenders his resignation to the Irregulars.

Late February, 2221: Sing signs on with the Resistance after moving to Paris. He spends the next three weeks settling in while working across Europe.

March 15, 2221: Sing, along with Celerity, Chroma Bee, Roll, Alpha, Chloe Hatchetman, Sixgun Sheep, and a team of Juggalos prevent a desperation gambit on the part of Alexia Ashford. Chroma Bee and Alpha are killed in the course of the successful mission.

March 17, 2221: Michael Eildath invites Sing to join the Maverick Hunters.

March 22, 2221: Sing accepts the invitation, signing on to serve as a liaison to the newly forming Legions.

March 24, 2221: Sing informs the Irregulars of the decision, an action which alienates him from some of the people he had fought alongside for almost the entire year before.
