Profile
Favoring a weapon that symbolizes protection and defense over aggression and offense, Shield Fox wields only that of his namesake. What he lacks in firepower is more than compensated in his steadfast dedication. A die-hard soldier, Fox is deeply loyal to the cause of Repliforce. Bearing a creed of honor, he sets a high moral standard for himself, hoping to influence those around by example. Opponents should be wary to underestimate the shield bearing vulpine, for while carrying no traditional projectile artillery, Fox remains a worthy adversary in the melee arena. Confronting hostility with a grace that reflects the elegance of his martial art, Fox dismisses emotional dynamics that do not add value to the situation. And while although compassion is his greatest quality, his overly trusting nature can prove naïve and dangerous at times.
Background
Once going by the name of Welder Fox, he was contracted and made as a field technician for Repliforce. Specializing in structural repair, he was assigned to the field to assist in civilian recovery after Master or Maverick attacks that resulted in high collateral damage. After only a short period of active duty, he came to the conclusion that the best repair was completely preventing (or minimizing) the damage in the first place. He wished to become a soldier, not just a peripheral character belonging to the clean up crew. His aspirations became fatal when he encountered a particularly ornery Maverick named Static Hawk. Attempting to intervene on a situation that was beyond his capability to control, he only ended up becoming a hostage to said Maverick. That day would be the darkest in his life.
Tortured and humiliated, he was held captive and used as a hostage by Static Hawk. The Maverick used Fox for a personal vendetta against Repliforce’s own Storm Owl. Fortunately for Fox, he managed to escape with the help of a good Samaritan who assisted him while Storm Owl engaged the Maverick in combat. He would not soon forget the pain and embarrassment so quickly, it would haunt him for months to come.
His performance suffered greatly as his psychological stability was seriously hampered by memories of torture that no one should ever live through. Fox underwent periods of depression and a loss of confidence, a loss of self-worth. It was like this for some time before hope came, hope in the form of HeraCorp.
Now he was equipped with the ability to rebuild himself in what he always wanted to be, a fighter instead of a fixer. All he lacked were the funds. Too embarrassed to ask for the funds from Repliforce, he saved his own wage for over a year to pay for the alterations. Fox never told a soul, as to surprise his peers. Coworkers immediately saw the improvement in his work once he had the goal in mind. Upbeat, optimistic, and filled with passion, Fox did indeed surprise his superiors when he refused a promotion. It was later revealed to them why. He immediately resigned from the clean-up crew upon achieving the required financial amount and set his appointment with HeraCorp.
Redesigned and rebuilt, Fox changed his identity from Welder to Shield. The shield came to be when Fox determined to specialize his combat skills on a weapon that didn’t symbolize hostility like guns or blades. The shield was a perfect symbol for defense, protection, and guarding the innocent from the evils that roamed the world. Programmed with the best shield wielding skills and techniques money could buy, Fox made the weapon an extension of his own body. The new and improved Fox returned to Repliforce, enlisting in the infantry division.

Spring 2221
- Promoted to Major / XO of Repliforce Infantry
- Resigns XO position for reasons unknown. Resumes the rank of Lieutenant.
- Prometheus, Dark Man, and the Robot Masters crash a welcome back party for Rock on the Fortress V. Storm Owl, Fox's hero, is seemingly killed in the battle. The Fortress V engines are destroyed and the ship keels, many die (including Celerity) and many go missing.
- Shield Fox is declared M.I.A. the following day. Only his namesake, the shield bearing the RF symbol, is found.
