Profile
Scarface is one of HeraCorp's great success stories. Created with assistance from the Maverick Hunter Roll as well as a few other technicians, Scarface was born desiring the life of a hero. Many in the corporation expected him to request membership in Repliforce or the Maverick Hunters, but were shocked when Scarface willingly chose to join the Irregular cause. They were even more shocked when the trust continued funding the project as costs continued to rise. On the battlefield, Scarface is all business, and fights boldly and confidently. However, his inexperience in things not relating to battle often causes him to be puzzled in social situations. While not shy, Scarface is hesitant when entering new situations not involving warfare out of a desire to do his very best in everything he does. Fortunately, his positive attitude and friendly disposition keeps him from getting in too far over his head ... but Scarface's desire to "prove himself" can sometimes put him in difficult circumstances.
Background
The epitome of HeraCorp's progressive take on Reploid development, the Ska Project entered pre-production explicitly to construct a combat Reploid capable of countering the latest in Maverick technology, embodied by the extremely sophisticated Lumine. A collaborative project between Maverick Hunter scientists and HeraCorp minds, Ska's body was constructed by Sewa and his neural net by Roll, with oversight and input provided by Dr. Light. The goal of the Ska Project was to use modern, cutting edge techniques and new outlooks on Reploid freedoms -- primarily a prohibition against so-called "soft conditioning" -- as opposed to the traditional method of continuously upgrading and maintaining Reploids like Rock or Blues, based on amazingly sophisticated but aging technology.
As such, Ska, as a disembodied but self-aware neural network, had direct input on the design of his Reploid body and was responsible for several of the decisions that led to his completion. He also had complete control over his operations after being brought on-line, and spent several weeks before being uploaded into his body exploring the internet.
Due to the intentions behind his construction and his Lightbot heritage, most expected that Ska would volunteer to join the Maverick Hunters upon completion. As such, it came as a serious and upsetting shock when he chose, instead, to join Epsilon and the Irregulars. Despite this controversial decision, Ska's early forays onto the battlefield were roundly successful, claiming victories against Lumine and later serving with distinction in the Martian theater. During the aforementioned campaign, Ska's face was seriously damaged by Force Metal while battling Scott Wily. Ska subsequently refused repairs, took, instead, the name "Scarface" to symbolize his independence, and donned the mask that has come to be closely associated with him.
He has since worked as Epsilon's apprentice, heir apparent to the leadership of the Irregulars, and, despite his estrangement from his grandfather, Dr. Light, and the Maverick Hunters, has acted as a liaison between the Irregulars and Allied forces, facilitating cooperation despite the ideological differences between the two groups.
Trivia/Cool Facts
- A top-line Reploid, Scarface is uniquely equipped with a combat version the ORCHESTRA system, which enables him to intuit and counter an opponent's attacks while bypassing the programming that causes Reploid motor functions to mimic human motor function.
- Scarface was primarily constructed by Sewa and Roll, and thus considers himself to have two mothers.
- Scarface's decision not to join the Maverick Hunters caused a rift between himself and his grandfather, Dr. Light, who believes that he is imprudently wasting his potential among the Irregulars instead of making a more serious difference working with the Maverick Hunters, and that he has abandoned his fellow Lightbots selfishly. Because of Light's continued disapproval and his refusal to recognize him as "Scarface" as opposed to "Ska", Scarface in turn refuses to consider himself a Lightbot despite maintaining close friendships with many of his family members.
- The Plasma Lance was designed and built by the Hunter armsmaster, Durandal.
- In his spare time, Scarface enjoys baking and knitting, which he learned from Roll.
- Scarface refuses repairs to his face. Though few have seen the damage hidden behind his mask, his mismatched eyes -- one humanoid and blue, and the other a bright yellow light -- remain visible.
- He personally requested that his massive, bizarre length of blue hair be added to his body prior to its completion, inspired by videos of Zero in action that he located on his second day of sentience.
- Scarface took home the Silver Medal in the 2220 Battle & Chase Sharpshooting Competition.
