Yippy kai-eye kai-aye! Yew ain't got speed, yew ain't got nothin'!
A thrill seeker, adrenaline junkie, and maybe just a tad unstable, Overdrive Ostrich comes across as a maniacal speedster, always ready to pick on the slow or slide a witty comment into conversation. The fastest runner among the Mavericks, he enjoys nothing more than taking off from a standstill and leaving slower robots in a large cloud of sand or dust. Able to fire his Sonic Slicer with pinpoint accuracy from several miles away, raining blades charged with sonic vibrations onto his target. Up close, special armoring on his chest enables him to collide with an opponent undamaged, and his razor-sharp beak and arm-blades can tear through some of the strongest metals. Although surprisingly resistant to damage depsite his relatively light frame, it can only take so much, and his stunts and tricks can often leave him severely damaged.
Background
Overdrive is one of many robots whose creation was headed by the UN for the newly formed Repliforce. He was built in Texas, and for one thing in mind: speed. With the advent of Quick Man not too long ago, creating a reploid that could move at the speed of sound was a popular route. Not many were successful until Overdrive. He was tested in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada and the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah, reaching a top speed of 765 and 767 mph respectively; he was deemed a success and immediately transferred to Repliforce.
However, Overdrive was one of the many to begin resenting his position as fodder to fight for the humans. Why should they have to obey the whims of the human-dominant UN? Overdrive would not have the motivation to do anything about these thoughts, though, until seeing Sigma appear to the world and announcing his new Coalition. Overdrive was immediately inspired, and defected to their side shortly afterwards. He has been serving them ever since.
