Evolution Nine began his life as an experiment: an artifically created brain in the framework of a large and still-formless body. Designed by the cyborg scientist Overclock, Nine is created from the same alien crystal technology that powered Ra Moon's Reavers, but possessed of a reploid's level of intellect and freedom of choice. While his consciousness was still forming, he chose his final body to be the form of the nine-tailed fox from legend, in honor of the eight failed experiments before him that made Nine his lucky number. Sigma knew that Ninetails' ultimately alien nature would prevent him from being affected by the Sigma Virus, and so his loyalty was secured by running simulations indoctrinating him to the Maverick cause even before his body was brought on-line. In practice simulation he's already killed thousands with martial arts precision, so taking these skills to the real world is simply a matter of transference. Cunning as a fox, just as one might suspect, he is also crazed as a jackal, and confident enough in his skills that he sometimes toys with his opponents before the kill. Those who possess beauty or power can hold his respect, however, and at times he can be remarkably patient, as he is content to sit still in meditation and review his simultation programs in his head until his skills are called for in reality. Ninetails possesses a tri-elemental weapons configuration, but can combine his abilities into a wave of destructive pure energy based on efficient Martian energy weapons. He retains the unique strengths, and weaknesses, of his Reaver breatheren before him.
