"Do you ever wonder what 'garbage' feels like when it is thrown away? Why not ask my friend here? They seem to know you well."

Profile

A manipulative Reploid, Metal Shark enjoys nothing more than playing with the minds of his victims. Especially frugal, he is fond of reusing old parts and components in his work. Armed with solid holograms, he utilizes them as a means of attack while projecting gruesome images upon them, often that of fallen comrades of the enemy, in hopes of weakening their resolve. His technical skill is such that he can create reasonable facsimiles of a departed figure of the Robot Wars by creating an android mind that (poorly) pretends to be them. However, they are rarely any smarter than a stereotypical zombie, nor anywhere near as strong as the original due to the cheap parts and garbage often employed in their creation. Though he abhors personal combat, he can hold his own with his metal anchor by either throwing it or wielding it on a chain. Despite his namesake, he is unable to maneuver in water due to his poor internal sealing, but he is able to burrow through loose dirt and piles of junk with an ease that few others of the capability can match. His comrades find him creepy, and are wary about him turning them into an experiment if they are near death's door.

Background

Created by both Gate and Berkana as a member of the original Dream Protocol, Metal Shark's early experiences in life were fraught with stress, conflict, and high expectations in the face of severe doubts as the Dream Protocol and its participants underwent the rigors of living up to both its lofty claims and the pressure of its critics. This lead to the development of a somewhat withdrawn and morbid personality. Metal became the type of Replioid who was more content to watch events unfold from a distance as opposed to being in the thick of things, especially when it came to his colorful family, and always seemed to have a negative response to everything.

However, despite his social shortcomings and a tendency to get lost in his own little projects, Metal Shark's early years weren't a total waste. In his solitude he improved on an already keen mind showing a surprising aptitude for logistics, Reploid and Android engineering and, perhaps in a misguided attempt to make his parents proud, a fair bit of talent with analyzing the DNA souls his creators were so engrossed in. When the idealistic dreamer Gate and somewhat distant Berkana failed to suitably recognize his advancements the poor attitude was only reinforced, doubly so when Berkana left the project due to a lack of faith in its effectiveness and, in Metal Shark's opinion, faith in her children. It was a final blow against an already tenuous Reploid mind and paved the way towards his eventual defection.

During the investigation of Stardroid Atlantis Metal was confronted by Infinity Mijinion and the flea's words were music to the young Reploid's ears. The traitor spoke of an innate superiority, a higher worth granted from birth and the right to rule over the humans who had so often cast doubts or stood in the way of his father's progress. Metal Shark latched onto the Maverick propaganda eagerly, desperately wanting to believe that he held some higher worth and, along with Ground Scarab, submitted to the virus and all that came with it. Years later, when Sigma was destroyed for good and the virus erased from the world, Infinity Mijinion's first words would still ring clear in the shark's mind. He had joined the CRF willingly, not out of infection, and would support the cause until the end.

Trivia/Facts

  • Metal Shark is kill-on-sight for the majority of his Dream Team brethren. He fears and loathes them to an equal degree.
  • Metal Shark is a coward, but he'll fight you anyway. (For about two rounds.)
  • Metal Shark has an extensive list of siblings. See: Gatebots

Other

Character's still pretty new in my hands, but I love him and his twisted family already. <3
