Profile
The robot called Masquerade was originally named Othello. Created by Dr. Doppler just before Doppler's research was taken in to UN custody, Othello was designed to emulate human emotions at an advanced level. Released into the public sector, he was donated to a theatre, and studied acting for a few years. However, anti-robotic bias was difficult to surpass, and many actors were afraid of losing their jobs to a robot who could simply be, as they saw it, "programmed" to act. Othello adopted the alias Masquerade after he gave up acting. He has worked for the Yakuza and Repliforce, where he refined his natural acting ability into the skills needed to become a spy. After simply wandering the world pretending to be several false identities and working with his brother Epsilon Masquerade decided to use his abilities for his own means again and became a Mercenary. A master at disguise and acting Masquerade is an efficient infiltrator and plant, though with his well-rounded education in the use of hand-held melee weapons, he can serve as an assassin and duelist as well. He has an observable case of identity crisis from living with so many different personas and sometimes still loses his way.
Short Note
Physically ancient, claims to have led hundreds of different lives under assumed identities. Handy with practically every bladed weapon and improvised bladed weapons and likes to think he's mysterious.
Education / Skills
No formal education but bits and pieces gleaned whilst living assumed identities brings him on par with most people with a College degree. Trained in infiltration, espionage and other neat things by the RF/Yakuza. Self taught in many swordsmanship styles including, bizzarely, Strider swordplay.
Triva
- Masquerade has led hundreds, perhaps thousands of lives. It is not unlikely you may have seen Masquerade in any faction in any role conceivable and not realised it.
- Masquerade seems to know something about Strider lore and is said to possess a Cipher, but never uses it.
- Masquerade has confessed he has no idea why Doppler named him Othello and speculates it may have something to do with him building him to be an actor and that being his favourite play.
- Many have mistaken Masquerade's occasional ramblings for the mark of true genius and others that he has had one too many blows to the head. The truth has yet to be discovered.
- Masquerade has expressed a fondness for Polar bears and has at one point indicated he may have lived amongst them.
- Masquerade often prefers to play the devils advocate and keep his true motivation and thoughts hidden so many have observed that he may not be all he seems to be.
Other
- Masquerade has occasionally speaks in German when he's angry, but only because everybody else seems to do it as well.
- Masquerade has an affinity for the number '11'.
