Profile
As with many Hunters without traumatic pasts, Kinetic Coatl is a very positive and upbeat reploid, who seems ever armed with a kind word and uplifting comment in all but the direst situations. Being new among the Hunters, his nervousness and shyness are often quite evident among those he doesn’t know, although that doesn’t stop him from helping out where he can. His control over his gravity-generator is incredible, allowing him to make precise, atom-thin slices through most substances with enough effort– a definite plus for his side-occupation of jewelry-crafting, as well as being quite helpful in protecting the innocent as a Hunter. His signature attack, Gravity Spike, creates a compressed spear of gravitational energy that is not only capable of driving through several enemies at once, but also leaves each pierced target with several extra layers of G-Force, slowing them down and limiting their reaction-time for a short while.
Background
(Ripped straight from the app - will be edited later! ^_^; )
Kinetic Coatl was built by a small custom-made reploid dealership in Seattle for a man named Victor Peterson, an Anthropology professor at the University of Europa who taught classes in mythology and its impact on the cultures that cultivated it. Kinetic Coatl, known at the time as Quetzalcoatl, was intended to assist the professor in teaching his classes, along with several of his siblings who were also commissioned at the same time – Sphinx, who would later be known as Enigma Sphinx, and who delighted in learning new puzzles and riddles to challenge her students with; Sleipnir, later known as Thunder Warhorse, a gruff but noble brute with the body of a six-legged Clydesdale and a heart of hammered gold; and Lung, later known as Wind Luck-Dragon, a soft-hearted grandfather-like sage whose love of philosophy was rivaled only by his gentle kindness for his charges.
For the next few years, life for the professor and his assistants went splendidly – the addition of the four reploids was given excellent reception, and popularity in the class – and in turn the university – increased enough for the Dean to begin considering several proposed additions to the faculty by some of the other instructors (particularly the Art, Philosophy and History departments). Unfortunately, the professor contracted a rather debilitating illness while accompanying the Archaeology department on a dig in Egypt, which forced him into early retirement for the sake of his health. Quetzalcoatl, Sphinx and Sleipnir opted to leave the university as well, while Lung stayed on to become one of the more popular Philosophy instructors.
Sphinx chose early to move in with Professor Peterson, taking a job at a toy factory designing puzzle-boxes and other mind games in her spare time. Sleipnir found work at a construction yard, where his brute strength and stubborn will proved to be a great benefit to him and his crew; he stayed on with the yard for some time, before moving to Europe to assist with the restoration efforts there.
As for Quetzalcoatl, who began calling himself Kinetic Coatl after hearing his name butchered for the umpteenth time, he drifted around for a while, bouncing from job to job without finding anything to catch his interest for long. It was lucky for him, then, that one day he discovered quite by accident that the gravity-field generator he used to glide around and manipulate his surroundings was also capable of exceptionally fine manipulation, as well as making paper-thin slices cleanly through a variety of materials. While the metalworking factory he was working at wasn’t overly amazed by his new talent, one of his co-workers suggested he take up a side-job at a local jewelers, a suggestion that led him to what eventually could have become a fairly profitable and enjoyable career.
After a year or so of working at the jewelers, Casey had made enough money and gained enough popularity with his work to risk opening his own shop, which he called The Serpent’s Treasure. Business was good for a few months, his name getting around and his income staying nicely steady. What he didn’t know was that the shop he'd purchased was built with faulty wiring, and even faultier gas-lines.
It was a Friday morning when it happened. Normally, Casey would show up at eight, give the store a good walk-through, then open at nine. That day, however, he ended up running a half-hour late due to a rather annoying phone call from a very picky client who simply had to have an item made to her exact details, which of course she needed to describe for him at that precise moment. At the time, he cursed the delay; after that day, he would silently bless it.
Casey was still a half-block away when the store erupted, and was spared the brunt of the explosion. Others were not so lucky, and as he floated in shock towards the wreckage, he could do nothing but stare in confusion and listen to the moaning of the injured. If it had ended there, he might never have recovered fully, and his life would have ended up much differently indeed.
However, when the store went up, it damaged more than the merchandise inside. As the explosion rocked the street, the internal beams started to buckle, then finally collapsed, sending the two-story building falling forward towards the injured on the street before it.
There was no time to run, even if they could. The building was falling – men, women and children were screaming – the store dropped forward, breaking into an avalanche of boulders mid-fall with a loud, crashing roar- -and the next thing anyone knew, the rumbling had stopped. Above the street, the rubble hovered dangerously still, frozen in midair. Under the center of it all sat Kinetic Coatl, body rigid and upright, wings spread wide as he held himself perfectly still, every ounce of his concentration fully trained on keeping his gravity-generator holding the wreckage suspended above those trapped below.
It took twelve minutes for emergency teams to reach the scene. Barely a pebble fell until the last person had been pulled out. Only when they grabbed for Casey did his concentration begin to falter, and only luck and the quick thinking of one EMT managed to get him and his rescuers out intact.
Once again able to focus his attention outward, Kinetic Coatl looked to the EMTs in confusion for a few seconds. His first question was, "Did everyone get out?" His second question would remain unasked, as the moment he got a positive answer, he simply smiled and passed out.
He woke up a day later in a reploid hospital. According to the technicians who’d treated him, he’d gotten through the whole ordeal pretty well, save for overstressing his gravity-generator – a simple repair, they assured him, and nothing to worry about. The rest of the day was spent with various visitors, some of which he knew – Sphinx, Sleipnir, Lung, the Professor – and others he’d never met before – the people he’d saved, along with their friends and families, all come to give their thanks.
His last visitor of the day surprised him, introducing himself as a Maverick Hunter. While Casey stared in a mixture of awe and confusion, his visitor raised his surprise-meter another few notches when he dropped the bombshell – the Hunters had heard of his selfless and courageous act, and after some discussion had decided to offer him an invitation to join them – if he wished it.
Obviously, this was not something to take lightly. After giving Casey a chance to absorb what he’d just heard, the Hunter handed him a card with a radio frequency on it, telling him to think it over and call when he’d made a decision.
It took him nearly two weeks to think it over, during which time he talked repeatedly with his brothers, sister and the professor, all of whom willingly gave their opinions on the matter while emphasizing that it was completely his decision; whatever he decided, they’d support him on the whole way.
Finally, after a great deal of thinking the matter over, he made the call. Come what may, he’d made his decision.
He said yes.
Trivia/Facts
Kinetic Coatl has no arms or legs. He moves around via gravity-fields, and manipulates his surroundings with the same. On the plus-side, this means he can lift and move things normally too hot, cold, liquid, etc. to move by hand. On the minus-side, it makes social situations (like shaking hands) rather awkward.
Casey's favorite drink is cranberry juice (thanks to the Professor's influence). His favorite food is cheesecake.
Casey's first real battle ever was against the Wilybot Sword Man, during the battle for Skull Quentin. This was also the first time Casey's wings were ever violently removed (or any part of him, for that matter), a fact which has made him very protective of them ever since.
