Kaust Losstaret

A former leader (and founder) of the Children of Eve. In the words of Michael Eildath, 'Elpizo before there was an Elpizo'.

Kaust Losstaret was responsible for a great deal of evil during his tenure as the leader of the Children of Eve, evil that resulted in the death of at least one Maverick Hunter.

Kaust was driven by an insane ideal of human purity, which he himself did not exemplify, being a 9/10ths conversion cyborg himself. Losstaret, and Dr. Landon DeVry represented the 'black operations' wing of Dr. Wily at the time. In exchange for technology and weapons, Losstaret provided his men as a cat's paw for Wily's advances, until the extremity of his evil activity led even Wily to disassociate with him. This disappearance allowed for Dr. DeVry to improve his own relationship with Dr. Wily, until Landon's own waning sanity eventually led Wily to disassociate with him for the same reason.

Dr. DeVry and Losstaret maintained a civil relationship based on shared ideals of human 'improvement,' Kaust allowing DeVry to tend to and improve upon his combat cybernetics, which were already considered the pinnacle of cyborg combat technology at the time. During Losstaret's reign of the Children of Eve, DeVry was considered the saner and more virtuous of the pair and even DeVry was heard to have commented that Losstaret's personal intensity and charisma frightened him. Losstaret's charisma was such that anecdotes of him convincing reploids to commit suicide for the good of mankind, or of transforming critics into supporters after one speech, were myriad. Some believe that the criminal associations Losstaret had may have contributed to these acts of 'charisma.'

Kaust's final disposition is unknown. Some feel he was killed by his own men, died due to cybernetics complications, or perhaps survived and merely waits. His disappearance from the Children of Eve is notable however in that since his death their leadership and direction has lost the laser-clear focus and organization it exemplified under his command.
