Profile
Kalinka comes from Circumstances. Her mother passed shortly after her birth, and her father, Dr. Pavel Cossack, raised her solo. He did his best, but Kalinka really got the short end of it sometimes, as her father succumbed to alcoholism and depression. After Dr. Cossack unveiled his ride armor, Kalinka, age 6, was kidnapped by the Robot Masters and held for ransom, only to be rescued by Proto Man. She has since never been able to drift far from the world of robots firing arm-guns. A sweet and polite young woman, Kalinka has vast scientific talents, and has inherited her father's intelligence. She currently opts to squander both, living a life of easy luxury and drifting from party to party. The press calls her "The Princess," and there are times when she acts the part as if they'd been feeding her a script: for every genuine achievement, there's a story on her boozing in some high-end nightclub. She was part of the Maverick Hunters, and later Interpol, but she seems to have settled into comfort, if not fulfillment, as a globe-trotting socialite with an amorphous clique of rotating hangers-on and paramour-du-jours.
Currently, Kalinka is rehabilitating her reputation, having started on ADHD medication and largely sobered up. She is attending the McArthur College for the Gifted and Extremely Spoiled on her father's dime, studying insanely advanced robotics.
Trivia/Facts
- Kalinka has many residences, but currently primarily resides on The Nation of "Z."
- Kalinka is BFF and partner-in-clubbing with Meddy, who is one of the few who can pacify the Princess during one of her tantrums -- typically by smothering her. Kalinka is fated to die by Meddy's hand (or, more likely, chest). They both accept this.
- Kalinka also has a kinda-sorta-will-they-won't-they going on with Dr. Regal, which the press reports on as if it were a full-blown clandestine relationship.
- Kalinka has checked into or been checked into rehab multiple times for various problems but the therapy has yet to ever actually stick.
- Kalinka is a proficient roboticist, but has neglected her work for some time; the only operating robot in her laboratory is a half-finished miniature owl that can only weep and bloop "C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E-M-E-M-O-T-H-E-R" in Morse code.
- Kalinka is weak, but will one day be strong, according to Jack Krauser. To this end he has made her eat an entire moose heart, served raw. She found it delicious -- "quite like the food we used to eat in Mama Russia."
- Dr. Light considers Kalinka as close as family, and is often dismayed at the lack of care she puts into her lifestyle, making up for the exasperated resignation of her real family, Dr. Cossack.
- It is a common fear that due to the amount and variety of illicit substances in Kalinka's system at any given time, giving her beer will somehow kill her.
- Kalinka keeps with her a flask with the following personalized inscription: "F**K YOU. LOVE, VILE" It was given to her by her 'brother' for her birthday one year, after he murdered a number of her favorite animals at the zoo.
- Both Tengu Man and Astro Man have, at points, fallen in love with Kalinka, as well as numerous people from other factions. She's just too adorable.
