Juggalos
From Megaman Mush Wiki
"Imagine," Tyler said, "stalking elk past department store windows and stinking racks of beautiful rotting dresses and tuxedos on hangers; you'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life, and you'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower ... You'll climb up through the dripping forest canopy and the air will be so clean you'll see tiny figures pounding corn and laying strips of venison to dry in the empty car pool lane of an abandoned superhighway stretching eight-lanes-wide and August-hot for a thousand miles." - Fight Club, Chapter 16
The Juggalo religion was created in the late 20th century. It began as the unlikely product of a rap-metal group known as the Insane Clown Posse. The core tenets of the religion are contained within six albums released between 1992 and 2004 detailing aspects of the Dark Carnival. Its main prophet, ICP co-founder Violent J, sketched out an apocalyptic religion which believes the end of days is near, during which the wicked will be punished and the good will be taken to a paradise.
The religion officially began like a Grateful Dead-like pilgrimage to follow the group around during its last tour in the 21st century, and gradually became an acknowledged social movement and religion by the end of the third World War. The cause is now formally overseen by a rotating group of Juggalo elders known as the Dark Carnival, who communicate with the faithful through their web site. They pass down rulings about matters of the faith and maintain lines of communication between all Juggalos.
The Juggalos maintain a militia used to defend the faith, as well as the holy city of Detroit. Currently led by Violent A, the Juggalos act as a low-tech strike force capable of acting almost anywhere in the world within 24 hours.
"We'll paint the skyscrapers with huge totem faces and goblin tikis, and every evening what's left of mankind will retreat to empty zoos and lock itself in cages as protection against the bears and big cats and wolves that pace and watch us from outside the cage bars at night." - Fight Club, Chapter 16
Juggalos find respect for others and one's self to be high virtues. Honesty is especially important, as it is important to "keep it real" and to not tell untruths. It is most important for a Juggalo to be free, with as few ties to the weaker, non-Juggalo society as possible. To this end, vulgarity and the use of non-standard dialects are common even in secular Juggalos to continually express their disenchantment with conventional society.
Juggaloism consider the wealthy and powerful to be sinful, as they have traded what is believed to be "authentic" values for material comfort. Juggalos who turn from the religion in favor of wealth and influence are among the most hated enemies of Juggalo fundamentalists. The other major category of sin is violence against the weak, especially women and children. There are few other restrictions, save for a prohibition against severe drug addiction.
As a rule, Juggalo culture focuses on self-reliance and personal bravery. Excessive technology use is seen as weakness, though cybernetic prosthetics and ornamentation are seen as desirable if they serve an immediately practical purpose. Further, the more alarming and exotic a Juggalo looks, the more that Juggalo is seen as rejecting the false society of non-Juggalos. Juggalos believe a man should be judged on his deeds and words, not his racial background or other parts of outward appearance.
Juggalos live apart from society, favoring abandoned urban areas or the unregulated wilderness. They have created their own settlements in Europe, focusing on sustainable agriculture and hunter-gatherer relationships with the land. Other ethnic groups get into conflicts with the Juggalos, but the Juggalos have recently become capable of repelling most opposition. The marijuana plantations of the Juggalos provide them with enough income to interact with the rest of the shadow economy, which they use to acquire medicines, industrial components and weaponry.
While not being Luddites who hate technology irrationally, Juggalos generally distrust robots. The average Juggalo will not agress against them without cause, but Juggalos will descend on known Mavericks in their territory in fierce, well-organized hunting parties. While there are some robot Juggalos, who mostly live in isolated enclaves away from Juggalo society, the majority of Juggalos are humans.
Juggalos learn how to fight from a young age, as being able to assert one's self physically is the first step to personal freedom. They favor unarmed combat with the use of simple melee weapons, especially the hatchet. The affectionate term 'ninja' is used to refer to other Juggalos, as at any moment a Juggalo should be able to flip out and kill an enemy.
When not wearing full face paint (only orthodox Juggalos remain in their "colors" all the time), Juggalos identify each other by complicated hand-signs and handshakes. Like Christians with the fish symbol, Juggalos also use the symbol of a hatchet, or the "Hatchetman" icon, as a way of identifying each other in hostile areas.
Juggalos group themselves into families or gangs called "carnivals". Several allied carnivals are called a "circus", and multiple circuses are called "gatherings" in honor of the yearly Gathering of the Juggalos in Detroit, Michigan. Part Woodstock, part pilgrimage, the Gathering is the center of the Juggalo year; Christmas, Thanksgiving and Carnivale' all in one.
