Profile

Jeremy White is an individual with a rather checkered and confusing past. Depending on who you ask, he is either nearly two hundred years old, around twenty-three or a little over a year of age. He also was either born somewhere in Disney Universe before it was Disney Universe, in a hidden facility somewhere in Canada, or in Hobart, Australia. His name is a constant, however, and Jeremy White has been consistently known in days past as an infamous hacker and more recently as a former cyberterrorist. Something happened, though, and having grown tired of all the killing, Jeremy assisted Norton Sharp and the ADF in apprehending many notable Mavericks hiding in Giga City, and for his service, was given what he really wanted: a new life. A new member of the ADF and assigned to Legions as an adjunct, Jeremy remains a competent intelligence operative and a highly skilled hacker. How well he functions within the confines of the law and without the support of the Mavericks has yet to be determined. Despite everything that has happened, Jeremy still works on whatever projects he comes up with on the spur of the moment, and his friendly attitude and personable demeanor continue to serve him well. However, he has a long way to go before anyone will think he has been truly redeemed and that he has paid for the crimes he has tried to put behind him.

Background

Born on Halloween of 2022, Jeremy White was your typical upper-middle-class kid with way too much time on his hands... barring the fact that he was paraplegic, that is. At an early age, he was involved in a car accident that left him crippled from the waist down. Despite this, his parents were determined to let him have a normal life. Excelling in school despite the teasing and his inability to do much to defend himself and always being quite bored with his studies, he took to the Internet to keep himself amused. When the urge to develop something to punch someone in the head over the 'net reared its ugly head, he just did the next best thing: he messed with them. It started with simple things: Changing settings at random in their operating systems to annoy them. However, when other minor hackers began to fight back, he had to get more violent.

Jeremy began to crash their systems in the most ruthless and efficient way possible. Custom-tailored virii and scripts meant to infinitely interrupt key system processes were his weapons of war, and for a time among the hacking community, he was unto a god. Going by the handle 'Binary Spirit,' Jeremy wreaked havoc, decimating anyone who thought they could tangle with him. Eventually, though, people got wise to his methods, and it became harder and harder to do things to other people. Soon, he focused solely on keeping his own system secure, and practically dropped off the face of the world, as far as his peers were concerned.

In 2042, when Disney began buying up large tracts of land, his parents informed him of the bad news that their home was on one of the first plots they planned to overtake. Outraged that they wouldn't do anything to contest this and were just going to sell, he took matters into his own hands. Re-emerging on the Internet's underground communities, Binary Spirit requested assistance in toppling this corporate giant. Though a lofty goal, it was one he and other hackers worldwide aspired to, be it to save their homes or just for the prestige. On Halloween they would launch their blitzkrieg of the Disney servers, and when the time finally did arrive, many of his colleagues and so-called "allies" backed out of the attack. With a sudden lack of reinforcements, they found they wouldn't be able to do what they wanted, but they did everything they could.

Jeremy alone was caught. The corporation accused him and him alone of doing millions in physical and virtual damages to their computer systems, and with their impressive and undoubtably expensive lawyers, they were going to put him away for the rest of his life. Unwilling to spend his lifetime behind bars, Jeremy concocted a way out, volunteering for a highly dangerous government-sponsored research project in exchange for a greatly reduced sentence. Unfortunately, he did not know that this project involved cryogenics until it was too late to look for another way out, and he was doomed to spend nearly two centuries on ice until the Maverick calling himself Overclock found his still intact brain and decided to use it for an experiment of his own.

His body didn't survive the process as well as his brain did. It had been damaged by the freezing process used, essentially crippling his entire body instead of just his legs. Fortunately, Overclock constructed a cybernetic body for use by his new experiment. In addition, he performed some useful surgery on his brain; whereas the normal human brain had such a large amount of it dormant and therefore typically unusable, Jeremy's now incorporates cutting-edge cybernetic components perfectly integrated with his grey matter to be used for advanced computations and storage space, granting him an incredible learning ability. His remaining biological systems perceive the augmentation as a natural extension of his brain and body, and thus it works even better than planned. This coupled with the new body that would allow him to walk again and sufficient brainwashing, he became a completely willing recruit, ready to fight for the Maverick cause on the physical and virtual battlefields.

(EDITOR'S NOTE: A lot has happened since then. Update forthcoming.)

Command Notes

Operative Binary Spirit is an excellent commodity to the CRF. Through his own determination, he has overcome his origin and strives against the powers that be to make this world better for all of machinekind. He is a credit to all his kind -- and I could name some reploids who would to well to emulate him.

-- HMC-17-Jalisco

"Binary Spirit shows the good humans can do for the world once they are properly upgraded. Freed from the slavery of flesh, Binary Spirit has been able to achieve more than he could have ever imagined. It is a privilege to serve alongside him." -- E.

Trivia/Facts

  • Binary Spirit owns and operates a cybercafe named Flatline in Kotte, Sri Lanka.
  • On April 27th, 2221, Binary hacked the Robot Master servers with the aid of Midnight Epiphyllum. There, he defeated Number Man... and then deleted his entire, massive collection of porn in such a way that it was irretrievable. Number Man's reaction in the early morning of May 10th of the same year is one of his favorite recordings to date.
  • On Monday, July 21st, 2221 at 8:40:59 PM EST, Binary cracked Hunter Chat. They had rotated due to him speaking on it less than an hour before.
  • The above incident resulted in Binary being added to the Hunter 'Prey' list as Wee Jas, the Lawful Neutral Greyhawk goddess of Magic, Death, Vanity, and Law. This may or may not be slightly fitting.
  • Two words: Action Hacking.
  • Jeremy White is an ADF Ensign and adjunct to LEGIONS under Charlie Archer's command. When people learned that he used to be known as Binary Spirit and got a new body to go with the Heel Face Turn, the reactions were suitably hilarious.
  • The previous hilarity on "Z" has spawned multiple instances of Daryn making his life hell.
  • And then he punched Daryn out.
  • Jeremy's old avatar apparently bore a striking resemblance to Alloy's At avatar. Creepy.
  • Jeremy was Daryn for Halloween, and crashed an evil Halloween party. He had some help.
  • Jeremy may have been responsible for the collapse of some random faction. Nothing too big or important, really.
  • Jeremy's former mentor may need to be defeated atop a falling satellite over a volcanic, T-Rex filled island with only a tranquilizer dart gun and a motorcycle.
  • The pageview that occurred immediately after setting this article to disputed neutrality was the 666th one. Coincidence?
  • Jeremy didn't sell his soul, damnit.
