Profile

Emil Marius was a member of the European aristocracy. Overeducated, idle and arrogant, Emil spent much of his life going to society parties, engaging in decadent affairs and generally behaving badly. Life was good for the Romanian noble until the Maverick occupation began. He found himself frustrated as the Mavericks invaded his lands, and was forced to flee when they overtook his ancestral home. His birthright was destroyed in what was a relatively brief and unremarkable battle between Repliforce and the Mavericks, leaving him with only a small fortune and the sort of personal, petty resentment that fuels high society. He poured wealth into various failed resistance movements until he was finally left with nothing. Emil sought Dr. Weil when his settlement appeared, thinking he could interest the doctor in working for him, but found himself "volunteering" for the upgrade project. Now with the means to act out on the world, Emil wields the Hellbat Schilt armor in the defense of his patron Dr. Weil and his benefactor. Deceptively polite and charismatic, Emil's true nature manifests itself in his relentless pursuit of victory. Beyond creating Dr. Weil's new world, Emil continues to honor the old rivalry between the noble house of Marius and the noble house of Simionescu.

Background

Emil Marius was born to the noble of Marius of Romania in the decade proceeding the Second Renaissance. From the time he was a toddler he was taught the important of his family and behaving properly to meet the standards set for someone of his noble blood, creating in him a certain dedication to the clan that could not be broken by simple teenage rebellion later on. Despite the breakthroughs of the great minds of the 23rd century, much did not change for the house of Marius, at least not originally. They were old money, unchanged by new developments in the market through years of accumulated wealth and careful planning on behalf of those trained for such things. The Robot Wars however, were a different sort of problem than they were expecting.

At the point at which full-scale war erupted in Europe, Emil was living a life of luxury who could expect from someone of his birth. He was excelling under the best tutors money could buy despite having no career responsibilities due to the lack of a need for such things(inheritance would more than cover him his entire life), partying often at only the finest establishments, and going through several rather decadent affairs which in the end would amount to nothing. It didn't matter however, as a Marius he was old blood, nothing short of a collapse of the world economy and a fourth world war could possibly bankrupt him. Unfortunately, he did receive the latter.

In one of the Maverick conquests Emil was forced to flee his home, vowing to return one day but never doing so as shortly afterward a minor battle between the Maverick occupancy and Repliforce destroyed his home. Left with money and a petty sense desire for vengeance for what the Mavericks had taken from him, Emil traveled through Europe pooling his funds into whatever resistance movement would take them, until eventually he was left with very little. Thankfully for him, it was shortly after this that he encountered Dr. Weil's army in Belgium.

Assuming he could control Weil with his charisma and his remaining funds, Emil sought to use the nefarious doctor to his own ends by traveling straight into Weil's territory and requesting his assistance. Unfortunately, he found more than he had bargained for and was soon forcefully recruited into Weil's assortment of test subjects. In the end however, Emil found that he was given something much greater than he had originally hoped. Instead of receiving another puppet to attempt to use against the reploid race he was instead granted the ability to fight on his own terms; something which he had previously not even dreamed of. After all? What better way to prove his superiority once again than by crushing his foes with his own hands? And besides, servitude to Weil was but a small price to pay, for once the world is there's he can return to being a noble once again. A king might rule directly, but is not his nobles which truly control the kingdom?

Trivia/Facts

  • Emil has fought Count Elek once since they both received combat upgrades. He lost, but this was partially due to having fought Sing immediately beforehand and Eurasia being struck by Astro Crush. Count Elek was sucked into space and his fate remains unknown.
  • Emil has something of a rivalry with Sing. They have fought on at least three separate occasions.
  • Emil, along with Asita Tau (Blazing Flizard), were the only two of the Numbers to side with Dr. Weil instead of Alexia. This was because Emil felt he had a better chance of maintaining his dignity that way. Also he was hoping to bide his time until a clear victor was available to join. It probably won't end well for him.
