Quote: There are three magic words in life that overcome all obstacles and unlock every door! These words are BRAVERY! COURAGE! And GUTS!
Profile: A progressive mining robot built in a time long since passed, Goldcap (originally Robot #14) was constructed to aid in excavating long-buried metal deposits buried by war for recycling, until a Wily riot sealed off her mine and buried her underground. Undaunted by her predicament, she continued to dig her way out over the course of many years, subsiding on what natural resources she could find, until she dug herself free. She believes in the power of courage and strength above everything else, given that it was only courage that kept her going for years. She is boisterous, loud and righteous, and she has views that are not so much classified as 'justice' as they are about the prevalence of those who have courage being the prevalent heroes. She admires those with great strength, and strives to improve her own. Her primary attack, the Drill Magnum, crushes opponents with whirling bits.
Background
When people ask 'have you been under a rock for the last ten years?', Goldcap can truthfully answer 'yes'. Built in 2201 or thereabouts, making her one of the original batch of androids, she was buried underground during the Wily riots. She had to spend the next eighteen years digging herself out, slowly and surely, using the minimum possible amounts of energy expenditure and repowering herself by converting dense matter directly into energy. During these eighteen years, Goldcap went a little bonkers, with only herself and her 20th century rennaisance data to keep her company (programmed into her to give her a knowledge of then-popular renaissance culture).
Rediscovered last year by the Maverick Hunters, she joined the faction after emerging in the middle of a raid on the mine. She quickly began to adapt to modern life, but her quirky nature and naivity severely grated on several senior members of the Maverick Hunters, especially during the incident in Willamette, which she was present for the entireity of, including the final battle against the Nemesis which she fought entirely alongside Neo Arcadians. Because pleasing humans remained a deeply rooted part of her programming, since then Goldcap has been trying much too hard to win the favour and respect of her fellow Hunters, including doing pretty much anything they tell her and using a large amount of the gems and precious metals she hoarded to make expensive Christmas presents for them.
Goldcap earned the emnity of several Maverick Hunters during the opening ceremony of their new base, which was a large party, when she tried to stop Sewa from running off in a panic by confronting her about her percieved cowardice, as Goldcap could not understand why she was not enjoying herself. Goldcap's actions shocked several people and resulted in Blues giving her a severe talking to, leaving Goldcap in tears. Following the departure of Bolt Kraken on business she has become rather moody and sour-tempered. She has also began to resent the Robot Masters for robbing her of her life.
When word was recieved from an alternate universe that they were requesting help with a zombie problem, Goldcap spent several weeks in training on and off re-perfecting her zombie killing techniques, and brought her immense strength to the fore lugging supplies into the alternate universe in order to support the people there. She spoke to the alternate Cinnamon and praised her bravery, a commendation she quickly recinded as Cinnamon revealed herself- and everyone in Checkpoint Charlie to be a zombie, attacking her in the process. Goldcap responded to this by backhanding zombie Cinnamon across the room and bodily carrying their Cinnamon to safety.
She was trapped in the alternate universe alongside Rock, Blues, Cinnamon, Nana, Steel Massimo, Poseidon Pegasus, Storm Owl, Wind Dragon, Munitions Ifrit, Monsoon Lynx and Sewa. Seperated from the majority of the group, she escaped the upper levels of Checkpoint Charlie alongside Rock and Blues, defeating a zombified Shining Firefly and breaking apart a large mudball used to try and force the group off of the flatbed truck they fled on.
Escaping into a city at the base of the mountains, Goldcap assisted in keeping the group moving by digging a hydrogen fuel tank out of a gas stop in order to fuel the truck, and keeping peoples' energy topped up with her backup generator. A large swarm of human zombies appeared which she did not fight, but at some point, she did fight and destroy her zombie self. The group was later returned safely to their world by a surviving Frank West and an enigmatic man named Baryl.
Goldcap later accompanied Linnea Blossom to the next alternate universe, meeting with the Hunters in Games World, where Battle and Chase had taken over all life. Convinced by her alternate self- named Tincap, who apparently won the 'death race' on one leg and no arms- and Iron Massimo, she competed in a special obstacle course. However, Burst Man was also racing, and Goldcap vented her frustrations of the last few weeks on Burst. The two of them tore one another apart in a burst of violence, and Goldcap had to be recovered and repaired by Repliforce after being dumped back into the portal.
Most recently, Goldcap performed the initial investigation into the Berlin portal, accompanied by Rock, Kraft and Orion Corth. However, once that side's Auto had been given the info on dimensional rifts by his counterpart, it was revealed that this universe was controlled by Dr. Wily, and the four of them had walked into a trap consisting of thousands of drones and Search Man. Enraged, Goldcap scattered the drone forces with a shockwave and drew drone fire, giving the heroes time to get to cover and eventually flee back into the portal.
Goldcap was heavily damaged due to this, and because of the shock of the situation she did not participate in the events that occured later in the week involving the death of the alternate Doctor Wily. She took a short break after this to work off her fatigue.
She was back in action in time to enter the second-to-last dimensional rift, which led to an alternate future 105 years on. She accompanied Jailbird Gier-Eagle, although she almost left before she was forced to remain after she tried to stop Serges from trapping everyone with a timestopper bomb.
Goldcap had a wild and emotional ride, as she journeyed through the wastes expressing her angst and frustrations to Jailbird. Having got a little off her chest, she met The Man in a wasteland city, who implored them to follow him to Cairo after he destroyed the machine they were trying to use to get back. Goldcap initially thought he was rather impressive- and Mr. Famous- but her opinion of the unstable man gradually soured.
Entering the Cairo Arcology, Goldcap assisted in breaking into the facility, allowing the others to fight an alternate universe's version of Dr. Landon DeVry after her initial attacks proved less than succesful. Upon priming the portal, they were confronted by 'the Empress'. Goldcap entered a state of incredibly enhanced anger and courage and engaged her alongside Hiryu and Colonel, only to have all of her attacks leave no impression on the Empress and for Daryn to force her into retreat. She returned to this universe feeling rather impotent.
Having undergone a thorough bootstrapping and repair, due to Riot's need for her to help, she ventured to San Angeles and entered a warp created by Mister Famous. This led to the crashed ship Ragnarok, in a version of the world similar but parallel to Neo Arcadia. Goldcap protected Cinnamon, as the Original X told the assembled Hunters and civilians and others of his plan to create a perfect universe by draining the energy from several imperfect ones.
Goldcap refused his plans, and alongside the others, fought his final weapon- the rebuilt Omega from this timeline. As battle was joined, Omega wounded the man known as Dark Kanissa, allowing Elpizo to break free of his containment suit. Goldcap struck Omega with a devestating combo attack, breaking a fault in Omega's armour and allowing him to be defeated. Omega stabbed her with his saber, but she was rescued by Jailbird and Cinnamon. Following this, she fled the Ragnarok at the conclusion of the mission, and ate cake.
Following her rescue of Felix in Able City, Goldcap was severely injured. Following this, she quietly faded into the background of the Maverick Hunters, serving as a mining contractor and assistant in terms of geological and mineral research. She was able to apply herself intellectually and greatly improved.
