Profile
Many people still remember a Gate who was an affable, caring Reploid who looked after the welfare of his various children. The reality behind this man was far more sinister and all falsehoods were stripped away one day when a combination of the Sigma Virus and Force Metal radiation shattered his public persona to reveal the truth. The real Gate is yet another in a long line of scientists who have worked for the United Nations and, somehow, come out of the experience with an advanced degree in monstrosity. The true face of Gate has been revealed as a man without remorse or ethics who thinks nothing of using other people in elaborate experiments intended to bring about some form of major transformation or evolution in the body of scientific knowledge. He is a godless machine who believes in cold, hard science and the notion that progress itself is a justification for all transgressions. While manipulative and callous, he can easily affect the illusion of his old public persona, though only some are fooled in this fashion now. His manner is still almost always pleasant, even tempered and almost cheerful -- which makes the manner in which he seems to consider the entire world and everyone and everything within it his laboratory all the more chilling.
Background
Created by the UN, for the UN. Gate was devised as the rather odd concept of a Reploid designed to make other Reploids. He was created with a vast library of the UN's knowledge on robotics at his figurative fingertips and has regularly found unorthodox ways of combining existing concepts into a new whole.
Once upon a time, Gate was one of many scientists who worked with certain parts of the United Nations, however when the revolution came, he found himself without a job. As the funding dried up and those who shielded him from the prying eyes of people with a concern for ethics began to vanish, Gate found himself out in the cold. It was only a short time after this that a previously unrevealed fault in his neural net design began to erode his sanity as paranoia and irrational fears of persecution began to plague him.
The hazards of being a researcher certainly did not seem to help his mental health at all.
Two failed relationships and several dead children, on top of exposure to the Sigma Virus and Force Metal radiation have exacted a heavy toll from Gate. He might be quietly mad, in fact he probably is. No one who knew the old Gate can deny that there is something wrong with him today.
Recent events have revealed surprising details about Gate's mysterious past. Gate was revealed to be a creation of the mysterious Professor, a super-genius scientist on par with Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, but possessed neither of Light's kinder nature nor Wily's general insanity. Transformed after prolonged exposure to his creator, a new and chilling form of sanity has descended on Gate's manner.
The new Gate is cold, callous and calculating. In many ways, the new Gate seems to be a mockery of the Gate that the world was first introduced to, putting his absolute faith in the deeper mysteries of soulless science. Moonlighting as the enigmatic Mr. X, Gate works tirelessly to engineer a new and better future for his father's latest acquisition: the Robot Masters.

Personality
The core of Gate's personality is his devotion to the notion that science can explain everything. Science itself, and its laws, are the absolute by which all of the universe exists and has its meaning. Plumbing the depths of scientific understanding is the highest thing to which anyone can aspire. The quest for knowledge is a dreadful, serious business which only those who are willing to cast aside all soft feelings from their heart can truly attain greatness in.
He has become a soulless servant of order.
Gate is devoted to his family, most especially to his father, and gets along with them all as a general rule. In a family of psychotics and sociopaths, a person such as Gate feels right at home. Gate's capacity for digging up trouble, as well as his preference to staying out of action himself, gives a pair of his favorite younger siblings, Prometheus and Pegasus Eclair a great deal of their favorite sort of work to do.
The truth is, Gate is still quite mad by the standards of most people, however the Professor's children generally have psychological quirks which are merely beneficial to their work. The utter lack of conscience, remorse or scruples of any sort make Gate the ideal sort of person to be a researcher unafraid to get his hands dirty.
Trivia/Facts
- Saved the life of Abernathy at least once during his term as the Director of Interpol.
- Gate has a secondary 'Golden' battle armor which has undergone several evolutions over time. Presently, Gate uses it to house equipment for performing high energy radiation and gravity experiments. Often on living victims.
