Profile

If your enemy's back isn't turned, what's the fun in attacking?

Flame Man's oily manner leaves one with the feeling of needing to wash up. Cunning and devious, he'll shake your hand while torching the last of your energy reserves behind your back. As a spy for Wily his charm and persuasiveness is second to none; if you don't want what he's offering, you soon will, and if he can't have what he wants, no one will. When his words fail he's not above resorting to terrorist tactics to get what he or Wily wants. A schemer, he is fond with coming up with elaborate plots against his enemies, whether they are actually played out or not. He has a taste for the rich and exotic, his quarters lavishly decorated in the style of an Arab palace, and keeps a harem of belly dancer drones for company. He is very vain about his turban. He is also punctual and can get irritated easily when things do not go as he planned. He wields a flamethrower weapon that can fire globs of napalm or fiery columns from the ground as in his main attack the Flame Blast. Sometimes too shady for his own good, even his own comrades don't trust him.

Background

Flame Man was one of the first in the Zeta series to be activated, and his history is not too complicated other than that. Wily decided having another spy unit modeled after the cunning of the ancient Arabs would be good to round off the squadron. He started to make contacts with the underworld, especially dealings with the Yakuza.

IC History

Flame Man looked to the niche market of oil and decided to hoard some for Wily and the Master's own use. After the purchase of a large tract of desert land in Saudi Arabia, an oil field was built, the facility resembling an Arab castle. Oil was dug there and currently stored for their own personal use. When the oil digging was canceled, other fuels are now stored there as well, making it the largest and most hidden Master fuel depot currently.

In the summer of 2218, though, a new oil business sprang up, Tiamat Oil. It was in fact a front company started by Flame Man, and it grew to prominence after the merger and then later takeover of Mikage Jakarta, another fuel company run by the now-deceased Yakuza leader Chet. Flame Man still currently oversees the company, much like Pharaoh Man and his secret mayorship in Detroit.

In 2219, near the end of the year, Flame Man's latest scheme ended up with him revealing the voter rolls of Marco 'Macho' Jaggerstein's government, showing that only a tiny minority actually voted for them. Violence erupted, and about 1500 were dead after the conflict. His actual involvement is unknown save to a few.

In 2220, Flame Man sought to spread fear and destruction in Europe, by way of setting fire to a number of farms across the Central Europea countryside. By using street youths and assorted thugs to do his work and by way of an alias, he figured that the fear of new Maverick attacks would incite people to seek the safety of Wily's Eclipse. However, his plan was uncovered by an investigation led by Frost Walrus and Cinnamon; his base of operations was raided, and Flame was given the boot.

Trivia/Facts

  • Flame Man is perhaps the only Master to wear a hat (turban), and have a moustache. He has a prized collection of turbans in a secret location. Whenever his current one is damaged he simply replaces it.
  • He is very punctual and is always on time or slightly early to anything. This stems from his routine and meticulously monitored refueling times.
  • Flame Man's charisma is considerably high among the Masters, but he uses this for much more nefarious purposes than leadership.
  • Unlike the stereotype of the fire robots, Flame Man is actually a terrible cook and often doesn't feel like making anything anyway. When he does it's usually balaklava or falafel or some other Arab dish.
  • While his fire element is his most potent weapon, he also employs knives, guns, poison and explosives when dealing with targets and opponents.
