Dream Protocol

The Dream Protocol was the codename for Gate's efforts to foil the various viruses which have been held responsible for making Reploids go Maverick over the years. It is unlikely Gate is especially concerned with the Dream Protocol anymore, as he himself has gone quietly mad in the interim.

Version 1.0 - The Dream Team Edition
The original version of the countermeasure for the Maverick Virus, in effect a set of killswitches and powerful error correction and scanning protocols designed around the idea that if the Virus could be caught before it had infested the entire system, the infection might be halted. It failed spectacularly due to an error in identifying the threat. When the antiviral scanners began sweeping the infected Reploid's net, it began to attack the Reploid's own consciousness and key operating data, mistaking the entire system for the virus because the 'virus' itself was an inherent part of the Reploid neural net design. The Dream Protocol has been removed from the original Version 1.0 Reploids, for their own safety.

Version 2.0 - The Red Alert Edition
Gate tried a second time to create a preventative protocol, this time against the Sigma Virus at the behest of Black SHIELD. The requirements for the task were extreme and time was very short, but Gate was driven to succeed, he needed to create Reploids immune to the Virus who would still be recognized as Maverick by conventional means. The second version of the Dream Protocol has virtually nothing at all to do with the first version at all, as Gate was inspired by the vaccination of humanity against Smallpox through the use of a related virus. This version of the Dream Protocol actually uses the 'Maverick Virus' system as a vaccine against the Sigma Virus, by programming whole personalities around an activated Maverick Virus behavioral suite which can still function in human society with a large degree of normalcy. The marvel of Red Alert is not their mechanical engineering, but instead in that each and every one of them, but for Gate's ability to craft fully realized minds from the ground up, would have been Maverick at birth.
These protocols are now depreciated, as the era of the Virus seems to have passed.
