Profile

Once partners with Professor Gaudile, Doctor Psyche respected the abilities of his collegue, but always doubted his methods. His primary interest has always been making it big, and, to do that in the environment of a world war, one needs to build a weapon. When Gaudile discovered Force Metal, Dr. Psyche knew that he'd found the ultimate new weapon, something that could make both of them as famous and wealthy as those who invented the Buster. When Gaudile decided to develop Force Metal to heal instead, Psyche was furious, and broke the partnership before the Force Metal Generator was completed. Since, he has created a unique weapon-the Reploid Power Armor, mass produced custom suits of battle armor for reploid use. His prototype, the Mad Nautilus, is as feared as it is coveted. He will stop at nothing to acquire the Force Metal Generator, having even joined with Ra Moon as a Blackguard during his campaign against Earth, and schemes continously against those he feels have wronged him.

Background

Psyche was build in the year 2216, by a fledging weapons research company seeking to make their mark in an ever growing weapons developement market created by the Robot wars. Unfortunatly, creation of the highly intelligent and innovative caused them to go bankrupt after a project ended in failure, leaving Psyche to his own pursuits as he thrown out onto the street. It is wondered, though, if certain aspects of his mind were not fully....completed before his activation, a possible cause for his violent temped, strange sense of humor, and insane jealousy. Attending Eurasian university, the reploid made history by completing the first ever doctorate in 'Mad Science'. However, his thesis and master's request were rejected by the University-after all, there was no such thing as a Mad Science degree. Retaining the title he felt rightfully his, Dr. Psyche joined with a researcher named Gaudile in assorted geological and enviromental surveys. Psyche had been attracted to the professor's theories on robotic life mimicking organic, and had hoped it could lead to revolutionary Bioroid processes.

Instead, they found Force Metal.

To Psyche, it was a godsend. Finally, after a life of failure and refusal, this was his big break. Force Metal, as he theorized, held endless possibilities. Especially in use as a weapon. When Gaudile began work on a generator to safely utilize the substance, Psyche began courting weapons developement corporations for grants. Unfortunatly, when the Professor found out Dr. Psyche's intentions, the two split after a violent arguement on what a proper use was for the Force Metal. Psyche retreated to his own pursuits, exploring other routes of weapon design, starting research on the Mad Nautilus. If he could out-do Gaudile and buy him out, the Force Metal could be his.

The two didn't meet again until the GTSE of 2218, in which Dr. Psyche planned to unveil his creation to the world. The contracts for production alone would be enough, in Psyche's mind, to buy out Gaudile Labs and take the Force Metal Generator for himself. It all seemed perfect-that is, until Gaudile unveiled not only the Force Metal Generator, but the reploid he had built it into-Cinnamon. The Force Metal, along with his organic-mechanical plant research, stole the show. Psyche was in shock-his rival and expartner had found a way to effectively use the Force Metal to benefit the world in ways not involving weaponry. Enraged, he demanded Gaudile show the Expo what the substance was capable of as a weapon, the capabilities he had researched so long ago. When refused and ignored, something inside the Doctor snapped.

Activating the Mad Nautilus, Psyche went on a rampage, killing dozens including Dr. Light himself. When at first the Nautilus was disabled, Psyche only summoned another, having kept multiple prototypes in reserve to display the mass production possibilities. All seemed to be lost, until Cinnamon, in a fluke caused by emotional outburst, healed everyone present through Force Metal energy, even reviving Dr. Light. Realizing he could not possibly win, Psyche fled.

Over the next month, Dr. Psyche plotted and waited, joining with the Yakuza through a series of careful negotiations in which he proved his worth and loyalty. In the process, he even escaped with the Wright Brothers' plane out of the Smithsonian. Once their trust was earned, he launched an attack on Gaudile Labs. However, the Robot Masters and Mavericks sought the Force Metal Generator as well, and it became a vicious battle as the factions tried to get to Cinnamon first. Unfortunatly, just as she was within his grasp, Protoman and the theif Marino disabled Psyche, leaving him open for Cinnamon to use her new armor form-the Iron Maiden-and force him to flee. Cinnamon joining the Hunters shortly after, Psyche was desperate to capture her, and lured the reploid, her creator, and the thief Marino into a trap. The Doctor and Cinnamon battled it out, leading to what was believed to be Psyche's demise. He, however, in fact survived, and has been biding his time ever since, scheming in his madness.

Many great schemes were indeed hatched, including the double-crossing of Repliforce. Hired to create a Force Metal Weapon for General, whom feared the Hunter and Maverick monopolies on the technology, Psyche instead created the Rainbow Devil. He unleashed it upon the world, only for it to finally be destroyed by Dr. Sarah Fairchild.

With the arrival of Ra Moon on Earth, Dr. Psyche, long frustrated by multiple attempts to seize Cinnamon's Force Metal Generator, threw in with the Destroyer of Worlds as one of his blackguards. In exchange, he was granted the Generator technology, but not the means to understand it. Dozens upon dozens of attempts were made to utilize the restorative capabilities he had seen Cinnamon utilize, but to no avail. While he understood Ra Moon's plans, the doctor truly believed he could evade destruction for himself at the last moment, and even installed a failsafe. Should his body be destroyed, his neural network would be teleported via a one-charge localized blink system to a preset safe location, where a body would be rebuilt by automated systems.

In the Battle for the Tower of Light, Psyche faced Cinnamon and Steel Massimo, holding Gaudile captive. Demanding she divulge the secret of her generator, lest he kill Gaudile, Psyche thought he had won. However, the answer-that one must give of themselves to restore another-was unsatisfactory. That such a sappy and unscientific concept could be the answer pushed him into a frenzy. In the fray, Massimo tore the Force Metal Generator from his body and destroyed it. The power source for his upgraded Mad Nautilus armor removed, Psyche reverted to his normal body, and was destroyed in Massimo's subsequent Beast Lancer attack.

Over the next two months, in his lab beneath the Atlantic, Psyche's neural network lay in stasis as a body was built around him. The blink process had worked, but with subtle damage to the network's programming. Before, Psyche had been deranged, now, he was stark raving mad, lost in his own delusions. In time, the lab's systems began to fail, becoming dangerous and unstable, and attracted attention of explorers. His drones killed them, prompting investigation by Hunters, Repliforce, and his old Yakuza comrades. Due to the foolishness of a Repliforcer, the complex was pushed over the breaking point, and began to collapse. Brokering a deal with Sera and Geetz, who would be killed in the flooding and collapse of the labs without Psyche's help, he rejoined the Yakuza.

Since, Psyche has taken some interest in the now reborn Mars and the processes Force Metal has catalyzed on it's surface. Trading an old artifact stolen previously from a secure US Military Facility, Psyche acquired the Stellar Drive Technology, and attempted to craft a vessel from stolen goods. Repliforce and Hunters intervened, sabotaging the ship at it's secret construction site in the Siberian wastes, and the project has since been scrapped for the time being. During this time, he created the android Ego, the first in what Psyche hopes may be a long line of robotic creations to do his bidding. He quietly plots revenge against those whom he feels have wronged him, ever waiting...

Personality

To Dr. Psyche, the whole world is against him. Sure, there are those that sympathize, those that assist him and to a degree, share his vision. But none of them hold the brilliance needed to fully grasp what he seeks to accomplish. This superiority complex is an attempt on Psyche's part to compensate and defend against neglect and abuse. Having had no family, even in his creators, and denied his dreams at every turn, the reploid cannot handle failure anymore in a healthy manner. Instead, he places himself in the role of the person everyone loves to hate-the Villain. It is his duty to be evil, to do whatever it takes, and to foil the heroes at every turn. After all, the world treated him like a bad person without question, so he might as well revel in it. It's a delusion in his mind that he is the penultimate Evil Genius, only this time-he will succeed where the other Evil Geniuses have failed.

If anything, Psyche gets along fully only with his creations, a handful of sentient robots including Mecha Martha Stewart, a truly homicidal reincarnation of the infamous homemaker, who acts as his housekeeper, bodyguard, chef, and lab assistant. Of course, these beings are programmed to view him as their superior in every way, much like Robot Masters and Dr. Wily, and worship him like a god. Those who share in his visions, like many in the Yakuza, are commonly viewed as allies or even friends-but even those who appear to be friends can betray Psyche, in his mind, and are watched carefully.

Psyche lives now for revenge on the world that wronged him, that denied him his greatness in it's ignorance. Anything which harms Gaudile, Cinnamon, Steel Massimo, or Marino, the people who have cut down his dreams most directly please Psyche to no end. If anything, he's obsessed with seeing their prospective downfalls and his acquisition of the Force Metal generator. People meddling or interfering in his work, especially those doing so for the sake of heroics, often earn his ire. They have no right to get in his way, but do so regardless.

For all his delusions and insanity, Psyche is an utterly brilliant mind. His capability to build and innovate truly is something to behold, making him a dangerous adversary and a worthy ally. Many, however, are quickly repelled by his madness, and fail to realize this. If anything, his delusions of villainy, the world being one big story where heroes and villains fight it out, is his downfall. It keeps him from seeing deeper conflicts or resolutions to problems beyond violence, scheming, or treachery.

Technology

Reploid Power Armor

Reploid Power Armor works a lot like human power armor, but is built to be able to integrate most Reploid Bodies, and because of the nature of a reploid, can be summoned forth in a similar fashion to changing armorforms (IE Pulled from subspace and automaticly activated). Keep in mind that Reploid Power Armor isn't just another armor form-it's an integrated suit of combat hardware. A reploid will most likely appear closer to some sort of strange, vehicle/robot hybrid while using it.

A few other facts

  • At the time being, Dr. Psyche is the only known person with the capability to create this technology. This is not Skinner Armor, and armor such as Steel Massimo's is heavily custom, and not the same thing (though similar).
  • Reploid Power Armor uses standard parts and very little custom technology, giving it the 'easier to repair and maintain' setup that makes Power Armors viable for more widespread use than Ride Armors.
  • The concept was, to begin with, something created to explain the Mad Nautilus. It was run with from there. Yes, from a purely combat system/stat setup, it's just an armor form, the backup behind it being semantics.

The Mad Nautilus

image:MadNautilus.jpg

The Mad Nautilus is the prototype upon which Psyche bases his Reploid Power Armor technology, and has several deadly weapons systems. The tentacles themselves end in bladed tips which secrete a cocktail of highly corrosive chemicals, while the energy cannon array is powered by a high grade energy core, one of the most powerful of it's class. An upgrade of the suit, the Mad Nautilus Stage II, was created using the Force Metal Generator granted to Dr. Psyche by Ra Moon during his service with the Blackguards.

The Rainbow Devil

image:Normal rainbow devil.jpg

As it became clear that Force Metal technology would guide the course of the war in years to come, an arms race of sorts began. While the Hunters had Cinnamon, as well as the help of Gaudile, and the Mavericks had acquired Lumine and his creator Gate, Repliforce found itself lagging behind in any members or technology making use of the substance. More ironicly, they had just captured a mine of it on Earth's Moon. With Gaudile's initial refusal to help General make weapons due to his pacifist beliefs, the Repliforce turned to an unexpected source: Dr. Psyche. Previously a weapons developer by trade, and the only other person with hands on experience in Force Metal extraction, he was a sound choice. His criminal record had been rather limited to his hatred for Gaudile, as well.

Psyche accepted the job, though without the knowledge of INTERPOL or the Hunters, Repliforce's allies. He instructed the Repliforce in proper extraction, containment, and refining of Force Metal, providing items of his own design for the process. The material would then be used to create a Force Metal weapon for the faction. However, he began stealing supplies for his project in secret to avoid Repliforce's R&D Division from catching on to what he was in fact creating: The Rainbow Devil.

The Devil, while smaller than the beings of it's namesake by Dr. Wily, held a Force Metal core that utilized energy wavelengths of intense and precise frequency to radically alter a prepared substance's chemical properties (a medical gelatin was the basis for the substancce). The Devil was capable of becoming acidic, flammable, cryogenic, and electrically charged at incredibly rapid rates, breaking the known rules of chemical reactions. When INTERPOL discovered the project, they demanded allowance to supervise, but it was too late: The Devil was completed, and Psyche abandoned his laboratory. The world was told the truth about their protectors, who had, in a moment of weakness, sold it's patrons out to a madman. The Devil was launched against cities, cutting swathes of destruction, with only one demand made as a condition for the carnage to stop:

Bring Dr. Psyche Cinnamon.

Thankfully, INTERPOL regrouped, and at the third usage of the beast, Dr. Sarah Fairchild destroyed it once and for all. However, with proper quantities of Force Metal and supplies, Psyche could most likely recreate the Rainbow Devil again.

The Orotimatic

Image:OrotimaticA.jpg

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Bonnes and Yakuza forces, Dr. Psyche has created a Ride Armor for their use-The Orotimatic. Capable of variable element assault and Zero-G, it's represents a valuable (and powerful) addition to the Yakuza's arsenal.

Robotic Creations

Reploids and other such robotic life being the forefront of weaponry for the Robot Wars, Dr. Psyche holds thorough training and experience in the field of robotics. He can, and has, created android life before. For the moment, this has been relatively limited to drones and Mecha Martha Stewart (World's most homicidal homemaker). His fully sentient creations include:

All of his creations are hardcoded with a chain of loyalty upon which he rests the ultimate authority. They are typically named using psychological terms, especially Freudian and Jungian terminology.

Force Metal

Despite his insanity, it has become clear that Dr. Psyche knows a disturbing amount as to the workings of Force Metal, much more than many are comfortable with. It is rumored he has discovered it's origins, though it is commonly dismissed as mad ramblings of a foregone mind.

Subspace Drive

Somehow, Psyche has acquired the technology to create Subspace Drives, though his attempt to create a ship for the Yakuza was foiled by joint Repliforce and Hunter efforts.

Trivia/Facts

  • Dr. Psyche has had one player thus far, who was also his TP Temp. Yes, I've made him that freaky that no one else will be him.
  • Gaudile and Psyche consistantly reference their rather strange period as partners, citing multiple incidents, bets, wagers, arguements, quirks, and other embarassing tidbits you get when you live with someone.
  • Psyche is one of a handful of surviving Blackguards, though he no longer holds any allegiance to Ra Moon.
  • Dr. Psyche's virtual avatar, Invader Sentinel, is based off unused concept art for his secondary mode.

Image:InvaderSentinel.jpg

  • Dr. Psyche's labs thus far have been located in the Himalayas, underneath the Atlantic Ocean, and in the Siberian Wastes of Russia. All have been discovered and destroyed.
  • Steel Massimo's only ever use of lethal force was against Dr. Psyche in his Blackguard form, destroying him only moments after he was able to teleport his neural network to safety.
  • When his body is destroyed, Psyche's head will detach and fly away, making that really annoying weeeoeeoeeoeeoo sound.
  • For a period of time, Dr. Psyche held the Wright Brothers' Plane, stolen from the Smithsonian. It was recovered by Shield Shellfish and Dr. Sarah Fairchild as they fled his exploding laboratory complex.

Tidbits

" Get /down/? Oh, yeah, because I so want you both dead. "

Dr. Psyche walks out, cape billowing dramaticly. " Please. You are both much, much more useful to me /alive/ than dead. At least, for now. Not to mention, killing you is so messy and undramatic. It's much more evil to do something, like, say...this..." Pulling out a remote, he hits a button. A few nearby people suddenly twist and bend-they are mechaniloids-and lunge at the Paltypus and Thief, tentacle arms moving to wrap around the pair, disabling them.

The pavement shimmers, naught but a holographic skin, revealing a grate over a boiling pit of... Pudding?

" Bwahahaha! "
