"The infinite life of a reploid is something precious... I will see to it that they will be safe. Each and every one."

Profile

He seems like a nice, fun-loving, slightly outgoing guy. However, underneath the disguise lies a man scarred by betrayal of humans who thought he had gone Maverick. Surprisingly devoted, intensely passionate, and completely loyal to Epsilon's cause, Carbon is remarkably strong-willed and powerful, equipped with a Pulse Particle Cannon and heavy armor to make him a fierce foe in combat. While a bit stubborn and prideful, his devotion to his people is his strongest trait, driven by a pure desire to make sure none go through what he did when humanity had turned their back on him.

Background

Carbon wasn't intended to be anything special.  An ordinary reploid designed to perform basic labor tasks, such as construction work, he worked for a growing company based in a less law-abiding section of Eastern Europe, which did construction work for growing megacities around the globe.

However, tragedy struck when one of the head chiefs, a human that Carbon had worked directly under, was killed in a work accident.  At the time, it was believed to be Carbon's fault, and some of the head staff took things into their own hands, setting up Carbon into an unfortunate "work accident" themselves.  Evidence was forged to make authorities believe that he was at fault for the death of his boss, and records were changed to say that he had contracted a late strain of the Sigma virus.  He was branded a Maverick unfairly... and in the end, he was left for dead in an abandoned dump, hopefully to never be seen again.

Investigations came up over time.  Three chiefs from the construction company were eventually indicted and brought to justice for their crimes against the reploid, but as Carbon was gone, there were no efforts to search for the "potential Maverick" as media had overhyped him as such.  A good two years passed since this time, until a few reploids from the Coalition of Reploid Freedom, by complete chance, happened to come to the very dump Carbon's body was left at.  Carbon himself had never died, though had been on the verge of death for some time now, what little power supply he had remaining powering a stasis that kept him alive to this day.  The only part left of him aside from his near-destroyed frame were his memories of what had happened, and a despair-ridden, broken mentality that had wished for death but could never seem to find it, for all this time.

They took him in, out of pity.  He was repaired to a functional state over time, and was given new parts to replace the old.  However, as Sigma's recent death led to the eradication of virus strains and forced servitude, Carbon was given a choice; leave, and don't cross them, or stay and serve.  He put off the decision for a little while, but as he read the news and realized what had happened, his choice became clear.  Taking up arms and being outfitted with an outstanding armor, Carbon became what the world already knew him as, but for a different reason... to eliminate the twisted, pro-human control scemes of the world, and to save those from the events that had occurred to him so long ago.  A willing Maverick... with a renewed, albeit different, sense of justice.

IC History

For a time, Carbon worked towards the Maverick goals pretty regularly. However, over time, his desire for simple revenge began to dull... without a virus to restrict him, thoughts wandered. His goals shifted; instead of elimination, he sought preservation of the humans, seekign to control instead of mercilessly kill. Over time this simply faded, to the point where he just wanted to keep reploids safe, as he stopped caring about the humans.

And, then, the Maverick movement collapsed. Notably one of the first to leave the Coalition to join the Irregulars, Carbon is fully in line with their ideal and goals. He may be at odds sometimes with Epsilon due to their contrasting views but he's become very fond of him, and approves of his leadership, more than that of Lumine. He has changed, from a destroyer to a protector... and it's made him happy. Happier than he's ever been.

Trivia/Facts

  • Carbon has a thing for the ladies. He tries not to let it show, being a human trait, but he can't help it - it's hardwired in.
  • People that act odd intrigue him, and he tends to get drawn towards them more. See Iron Maiden.
  • Carbon is out to see an order established where robots are in rule, as he views them as the only beings that can achieve true perfection. As far as the humans, he doesn't want to kill them all... just those who get in the way.
  • Generally, Carbon keeps his cool. But there are times when he can totally lose it in a Fefnir-like rage; he won't hit allies, but he becomes almost uncontrollable. This happens during extreme stress, anger, or sadness.
  • Carbon is notably kind to and fond of the others in the Coalition. This comes from a general liking of those in it, and an appreciation for them saving his life.
  • Carbon spends most of his free time doing construction work; he used to do freelance jobs around Able City, but now he can't. He mainly sticks to building for the Coalition now.
  • Carbon hates Protoman with a PASSION.
