Who Are The Bonnes?

What follows is a promotional extract from Teisel Bonne's last player... A wealthy American industrialist and inventor of Germanic descent, Lord Bonne was considered brilliant, if eccentric. A slightly younger contempory of such worthies as Thomas Light and Albert Wily, Bonne made his name (and his fortune) in somewhat more conventional areas of scientific advancement, specifically propulsion (ion drives) and energy (refractor crystals). The future Lady Bonne, on the other hand, was a first-class career criminal - a "gentleman thief" (as it were) who used her considerable talents both as a catburglar and a seductress to maintain a lifestyle of ease, as well as a cover as a respectable and well-like socialite. It wasn't long before she set her eyes on the bachelor Bonne and made him her husband. In time, however, she discovered two things she hadn't counted on - that Bonne had been on to her from the beginning, and that she had unwittingly fallen in love with the man she had intended to fleece. The alimony-settlement-waiting-to-happen had somehow become something more, and despite all odds the Bonnes were happy together.

They were happier still when the Lady Bonne gave birth to their first child, an inquisitive and rambunctious boy they named Teisel. While possessing some of his father's technical genius, the boy really took more after his mother, with an almost instinctive ability of how to get around the artifical constructions of the world (such as rules, laws, and locked doors). However, he never used these gifts against his parents - even then, he had an built-in instict regarding the importance of family and the critical disctinction between "we" and "they".

This instinct would serve him well when, at the age of 10, his parents presented him with a sibling, a baby sister named "Tron". Like her brother, Tron would take after one parent specifically, and although she possessed her mother's beauty, she was truly her father's daughter - a technical genius that would one day surpass him. A few years later, the third Bonne child was born, but in this case all did not go well - Bon, as he was named, was born with a rare congenital condition that gave him no hope of survival. Unwilling to give up on his youngest child, Lord Bonne set all of his considerable genius to the task of saving Bon. Soon, he had constructed a life-support chamber for Bon that would not only keep him alive and take care of his physical needs, but would also allow him to experience, interact with, and communicate with the world outside his chamber. Bon became the proverbial "bubble-boy", never to develop mentally or physically and unable to leave his tiny personal world, and yet, inexplicably, happy. As were, for a time, all of the Bonnes.

Then Wily made his bid for power, and the Robot Wars began. In the face of the initial conflict, the Lord and Lady Bonne made the decision to retreat from the world. Boarding their sky yacht, the Gesellschaft, they and their children went into hiding. Years later, the Bonnes reemerged, not as a family of five looking for peace, but rather as a trio of ambitious siblings seeking to make their mark on the world. In the intervening years, the Lord and Lady Bonne has disappeared, their fates unknown, and their children felt it was time to reenter the world. They were taken under Wily's wing as his proteges, and they eagerly sought to learn everything he could teach them, both technical and tyrannical, adding the knowledge to that gleaned from their talented parents. The association continued until Tron made her first non-robotic creation - the clone of Dr. Wily known as Scott Wily. When Wily tried to destroy Scott, Tron defended her "son", and the Wily-Bonne association was broken. Since then, the Bonnes have based themselves in the pirate den of Sri Lanka, building their reputation as pirates and even gaining some influence in the criminal world. Primarily, however, what they seem to be best as is mixing themselves up in world affairs.

What Do They Do?

The Bonnes are a family of goofy sky pirates and criminals. The Bonnes are characterized by their massive, mission-tailored machines of destruction, their oh-so-adorable crew of Servbots, their absolute, unwavering loyalty to each other and their normally wacky and comedic RP.

Working With The Bonnes

Teisel tends to employ both Mercenaries and long-term crew members to join them on their escapades. Contracts are forged largely on a whim by Teisel if he is impressed by an individual or sees advantage in taking them on. Generally a long-term contract consists of access to a room (plus board) with free medical care provided by Tron and a cut in any criminal activities the Bonnes go out on or (if you prefer) a standard wage determined by hours of work put in.

How Do I Join The Bonnes?

Ask! Paging Teisel Bonne or Bon Bonne or leaving an @Mail expressing interest to work with the Bonnes will usually always get you something, we're happy to work with anyone and provide RP should they be interested. Long-term contracts are also available if you are that way inclined but you might want to check with the current civ staffer is a long term arrangement is a substantial character development from your original concept.
