Profile
An Ex-Repliforcer, Bolt Kraken retired from duty after his brother Launch Octopus swore his allegiance to the rebel Sigma. Retreating into seclusion on an island in Polynesia, he accepted an invite into the newly formed Maverick Hunters to help fill the void of aquatic capable reploids. Polite and mellow, Bolt tends to keep himself slightly distant, and his truest feelings bottled up inside him-particularly his guilt over the loss of his brother. The open oceans and his own studies are his outlets for alone time. He still feels a strong kinship with his comrades, and has been a faithful Hunter for years. He has doubts about his position in life as a vigilante and a researcher, doubts that can make him fearful and indecisive. But despite his worries and uncertainties he holds on to a thread of hope that things will all turn out alright in the end. A capable fighter in and out of the water, Bolt harnesses the power of electricity. He is able to fire it in bolts, electrify surfaces, and create electrically charged blocks. He doesn't seem to be harmed or hampered by water, and in fact water's voltaic properties can magnify his attacks.
Background
Bolt Kraken was among the many reploids whose creation and activation were oversaw by the UN to create the premier robotic fighting force, the Repliforce. Bolt was created alongside Launch Octopus, and the two considered themselves true brothers and bonded quickly while serving. Bolt took more to the sciences while Launch proved himself as one of Sigma's elite.
However, Launch was becoming increasingly frustrated with his soldiering life. Bolt wasn't too keen on it himself, and Launch would often be his voice of confidence. When Launch went AWOL with Sigma Bolt was worried and frustrated by Repliforce's inability and seemingly uncaring attitude towards finding them. He was devastated when Launch later proclaimed himself a rebel against humanity. Bolt left Repliforce soon after the CRF was put down.
Bolt spent the next 8 years living in seclusion in an underground research lab in Polynesia. In 2214 he recieved a visitor in the form of a Hunter. He offered him a place in the organization both to fill the need for an aquatic reploid in the ranks and for his skills while serving in Repliforce. Feeling this was something in his destiny, Bolt accepted and ventured out into the real world once more for a new life.
Trivia/Facts
- Bolt Kraken is ths second of the first two aquatic model reploids ever created. Launch Octopus is the first.
- Bolt is considerably one of the fastes aquatic reploids just under Jet Stingray, although like him he is an old model now. He entered the 2220 Battle and Chase sea races, winning the bronze medal after Jet sustained an injury. Bolt would have given away the medal to Jet, but the stingray declined; the medal now resides with Bolt.
- His old research lab, an underground complex of wires, tall metal structures, automated defenses and time-locked doors. It still exists today. (It is, essentially, his stage in X5).
