Character Data

"See, when you're hot, you're hot. And I'm hot in every sense of the word."

Profile

Originally created by Gate as part of an investigative research team that specialized in volcanic areas, Blaze Heatnix is designed to operate under the most hazardous of conditions. Flashy in attitude, hot in temper, her personality matches her fiery phoenix form. Possessing the ability to manipulate magma and form plumes of fire in her wings' wake, Heatnix does not take well to orders that cramp her style or deny her the chance to have fun. Competitive, she admires strength in others, and has no tolerance for weakness or for anything that may take strength of form or character away from reploids. Her idea of relieving boredom lies in constantly honing her abilities, where she relishes the heat of battle, at times to the point of landing friends in the repair bay.

Background

As is typical for most sentient robots, at least and especially those brought on-line relatively recently, Blaze Heatnix has a very straightforward backstory: created several years ago by the highly gifted Reploid-designer, Gate, as one of six members of the original "Dream Team," Blaze shared in her siblings' interesting fate of being simultaneously both failures and successes, insomuch that the primary intent of the project (creating an immunity to the Maverick Virus) failed, but those created from it were, in and of themselves, successes--Blaze's original designs called for one capable of operating in extremely dangerous environmental conditions, and she has experienced no problems in doing so when required.

Shortly after her original awakening, the Dream Team was "scattered to the winds," as it were, when two of their members went Maverick and the defining element of the Project was shown to be ineffective. Possessing a fiery spirit and an intense hatred of strict order and rule, yet also a passionate desire to see justice prevail, Blaze declined to join two of her siblings in Repliforce, but accepted the Hunter's subsequent invitation without the slightest hesitation. Since then, she's gained quite a fair reputation for her blazing temper and her overeagerness for combat, leading Alpha to once note her as "a Hunter in name only."

Personality

(Note: this is merely a rough preliminary, and is subject to change as I further flesh out Blaze's character).

Possessing of a temperament as volatile and mercurial of form as the very flames that she controls, Blaze is the type of unfortunate (for those around her, that is) person that can go from perfectly calm and polite to extraordinarily angered and arrogant with the suddenness and lack of warning accompanying a spring shower, then abruptly revert back to her previous condition with just the same amount of dizzying rapidity, often leaving those within earshot range either very puzzled or very irritated/angered themselves. Fortunately, however--both for the peace of mind of those around her, as well as the safety of she herself--Heatnix tends to unload most of her seemingly-innate aggression and strong negative emotions during the heat of battle, allowing her to be only somewhat unpredictable and occasionally ill-tempered during the rest of the time (rather than a ticking nuclear bomb just waiting to self-destruct and cause inordinate amounts of damage to those in the nearby vicinity).

That said, however, the Phoenix Reploid in question does indeed have some good qualities to balance out the bad, namely her intense passion for justice and the protection of those incapable of protecting themselves, as well as a very deep-rooted compassion for those who are hurting. Exceedingly extroverted, genuinely kind, and refreshingly(?) upbeat, Gate's fiery daughter is a very good friend to those who can look past her occasional outbursts of rage (which, interestingly enough, are usually her automatic reaction to emotional pain; she hides it well, but Blaze can be extremely sensitive at times). Furthermore, while indeed fun-loving and generally carefree, she's far from a ditz or an airhead. Moving along, one of the other primary things one will notice about Blaze within very short order is that she's extremely competitive and practically obsessed with combat and personal strength, both within herself and in others--if she's not on the battlefield proper, one of the best places to look for her is in the Training/Simulation Room...her intenseness in the heat of a fight is of such a level that a rumor circulates every now and again that she's actually overloaded the safety protocols and caused physical injury to her companions. (Although one must wonder about the validity of such idle gossip).

As a final note, while it sometimes can indeed be rather difficult to discern what will or will not set Heatnix's temper aflame, prejudice of almost any type will instantly raise her ire, as will insults directed against herself or those close to her--she's particularly sensitive to things said about her father, despite his defection to the Mavericks, and she's actually engaged in at least one full-out fight after someone verbally slammed Gate.

Random Information

  • Blaze's neural net seems to suffer from some fundamental flaw, and she is, to some small degree, mentally unbalanced. It is certainly a far cry from insanity (most of the time), but it is likely the reason that she's so easily pushed into the intense rages that are often noted by her fellow Hunters (as well as a few other abnormal behaviors which ocassionaly surface if the circumstances are correct).
  • Although she is likely not posssessing of it in its entirety, many of Blaze's characteristics definitely lean in the direction of Borderline Personality Disorder, and she rarely, but messily, experiences brief episodes of psychosis, which are universally brought about by severe psychological stress (usually her own rage pushed too far).
  • Despite the above facts, Blaze is actually quite intelligent and learned, with expertise in urban renewal, the geosciences, geothermal dynamics, and civil engineering. She has a tendancy to take side-jobs within these fields for some extra cash, but has lately been seriously considering putting them to more altruistic purposes.
  • Blaze is definitely a partier, and it's quite common to find her in bars, clubs, and the like when she's not on-duty. She not infrequently indulges in alchohal abuse, and more than once has come round hours later wondering what in the world she was thinking. Surprisingly, it was actually not until November 2nd, 2220--several years /after/ her creation--that she partook in some action that would have any permanent effect upon her life while smashed. It is likely to take some time for her to sort this particular situation out.
  • Perhaps unsurprisingly, Blaze generally sees those who can't adequately stand up to fire attacks as being weak, particularly in the case of Bioroids; her brother, Blizzard Wolf, however, seems to be an exception.
  • Despite his defection to the Mavericks, Blaze still loves her father dearly, and her greatest fear revolves around being forced into a situation where she either has to fight him, or fail at her duty as a Hunter. If such an event ever does occur, there's really no way to tell which choice she'll make.
  • If one were to take a poll concerning the Hunter Most Likely to Go Maverick, Blaze would very likely top off the results, with a wild attitude, an intense passion for combat, a dislike of most current world systems, strong emotional ties to Gate, a tendency to get so caught up in the heat of the fight that all other considerations are ignored, a nasty vengeful streak, a subconscious predisposition of Reploids over humans, a habit of toying with weak opponents, and a blinding fury and rage that can easily border, or even cross into, the realm of insanity. In fact, one might even be able to say that she's got one foot in the Mavericks already.

Command Notes

"I don't know if I can ever understand the devotion she has for her father. I am, perhaps, that much poorer for it." -Light

"A Hunter in name only. I think the only reason she's still with us is because she'd make a dangerous Maverick. A Gatebot, always a minus." -Alpha
