Profile
"There's no turning back now."
Originally, Maverick Hunter Axl was born to fill the vacuum caused by X's retirement; it took the combined efforts of the three most talented Hunter scientists to make the dream of his being come true. With his accomplished skill in all types of firearms, his sheer speed, and the mysterious ability to transform into his enemies via DNA Soul emulation, Axl is just as powerful as his heroes -- and in his excitement he tried to prove it to whole faction. After the death of Sigma at his hands, the young reploid began to think more about his role as a protector of the world; he grew troubled and insecure. However, Axl has now removed the shackles of shallow imitation. While still just as much trigger-happy, carefree, and brash as before, his innocence has been tempered by the realities of war; accomplishments have taught him to hold himself in higher regard and talk freely, sometimes to the point of friction with others. Yet he respects the Hunters all the same, and strives toward the future as his own person, following in the footsteps of the legends before him to join their ranks.
Background
It happened.
It was going to happen eventually.
... Mega Man retired?!
Without the Blue Bomber around to keep the world safe and generally be a symbol of justice, happiness, and kittens, the Hunters had a predicament -- yet, three tenacious doctors of the world were not about to let that slide. Research was poured over concerning DNA Souls and the imitation of them, all for the dream of creating an 'advanced' Buster -- and more importantly, a robot who would wield such a weapon and pick up the slack where Rock left off. These three doctors were Light, Cossack, and Cain.
Their dream was manifested as the newly-born Axl. While young and starry-eyed, the new reploid showed much potential with his true aim and his strange ability to copy the physical bodies of those he choosed.
Days and weeks passed by, and Axl generally sort of Axled around and did his best to be an up and coming World Hero.
One spot where Axl shined was during the Final Siege of Berlin; Viral Sigma presented himself to the world, and the young hero was sent out to duel him. The two clashed fiercely -- in the end, Axl was sliced in half and had to be brought back in dire need. It was he who put the bullet in the traitor Double's head.
It became clear that the world was becoming more dangerous with the addition of new and powerful enemies; Axl, who realized this, stepped up his work, making himself more visible, fighting harder than had before. Sigma, in his last desperate attempts to assert himself after being ousted by a Maverick coup, rampaged across Australia with his last loyal soldiers. Finally, in the destroyed Paradise Fountain, he met his end at the hands of all of the assembled heroes -- but, ultimately, he was deceived by a disguised Axl, who transformed back and sliced him with the anti-viral saber entrusted to him by Rock.
Two years later, Sigma fell. The circle was complete. Axl's wound was avenged. The world was avenged.
Personality / Etc
In the two years he has existed (and especially the one year I have OOCly played him), Axl's mind has undergone numerous rapid changes, a very common thing for reploids -- especially reploids that are 'forced' to grow up very quickly due to the stress of constantly fighting and being on the front line. He keeps himself from the thin line of insanity that seems to pervade the Cossack line (even its robots) very well -- he simply convinced himself that none of what he saw was really real; it was all a video game and he was the main character. It was harmless and fun. However, recent events and traumatic experiences have opened Axl's eyes to the 'real' world -- that, yes, everything is truely there and he just killed someone. He just permanently removed them from the world and from everyone they knew. As one would expect, he was troubled over this. Axl has made peace with war. He knows that he is doing this for the good of everyone. At this period of time, he has the mental and physical form of a 15-16 year old teenager and probably will stay that way for a while; as much as events may warp him, he's still a bit childish and whiny at heart.
Axl was taught how to shoot by Michael Eildath, and coupled with his natural acuity, has gotten very skilled with handguns as well as all sorts of firearms. His pistols are capable of morphing into whatever gun suits his needs at the moment. Along with this, he has also been trained and certified in the piloting of Ride Armors. He is capable of driving other vehicles, including civilian cars, but he favors Ride Chasers and motorcycles over those other forms of transportation.

Emulate
The Emulate drive is the crowning glory of Axl, the result of hard work between three of the world's most brilliant minds. It is partially based off of Buster tech and off of the theory of the DNA Soul. At its most basic, the Emulate drive allows Axl to take in the Soul data of his chosen opponent using a burst of energy and code that is electrically charged to absorb and 'draw in' the data (the Copy Shot). The system them breaks down the information, utilizes it, and constructs a shell and appropriate weapon systems around Axl's core body in only a moment of decompilation. The data is stored for as long as possible until it eventually breaks down. Axl's own DNA is kept in a seperate area so that he may change back at any time. There appears to be no time limit on how long he can remain in a form, although he has never used it in the long term and it has yet to be tested.
Trivia / Facts
- Axl shoots with his mind.
- Axl's favorite food is hotdogs, although he'll pretty much eat anything.
- Axl has two pet penguins named Nana and Popo. He got them from an excursion to Antarctica with Tron Bonne after he ran away and found himself in her care after he could no longer tolerate family in-fighting.
- Axl is an avid video gamer. His favorites are, of course, shooters and action games.
- When he is transformed, Axl often mimicks the mannerisms and personalities of whoever he is at the time. This is useful in infiltration when he has to realistically pass as someone else.
- Axl has a large subspace pocket, and was designed to be very light and space-efficient. He mostly uses it to store random crap (including comic books, live frogs, old Roll cookies, gum wads ...) which Dr. Cossack has the displeasure of having to clean out. Boys will be boys.
- Axl formerly idolized Rock and Zero; though he still does, he tries to assert his independence more often. Fanboyism still shines through sometimes, though. It is also rumored (ha) that he has a crush on Cinnamon. This has been confirmed.
- Axl can turn invisible when nobody is looking at him.
