Profile
One of the veteran soldiers of the Chinese Revolution, the old man that calls himself "Andrew" is a kind soul with a mysterious past. Despite his advanced age "Andrew" retains his strength, determination, and wealth of wisdom even in his old age. In fact, he was one of the people who helped train Elpizo long before the Neo Arcadian revolution came to be. Once content to pass the days away running a bakery, he later came out of retirement after a number of grievous incidents involving Reploids in his personal life resulting in the terrible murder of his wife Teresa. Skilled in many sword combat styles and not a bad shot with a rifle, "Andrew" once trained conscripts of the Neo Arcadian movement into fighting shape, but in hopes of shaping them into fine people themselves now he serves this purpose for the Resistance. While age is taking its toll on his body even after the e-human process, Andrew remains very capable. He may not have the presence of some, but he retains a degree of humility in his preference to not appear younger than he really is. Though wounded by the tragic events he has borne witness to The Soul Still Burns.

Antonio Firenze was born on August 15, 2140 (making him 79 years old) and comes from a family that can trace its ancestry back to an Italian Aristocratic family from which his great grandfather chose to break away from, but Andrew's ancestor brought with him two old and archaic practices - modified French Fencing and an appreciation of Literature and Fine Arts. Despite having lost it's importance in the world fencing became something that was passed from parent to child, and Antonio, or Andrew as he likes to be called, is no exception.
As a young man in 2167 'Andrew' enlisted into the army where he spent eleven months in training at various locations in the world. At this time, Andrew was already quite the talented fencer and was invited into the UN Army fencing team. As he continued to learn the soldiering trade, Andrew made quite the name for himself as a famous duelist challenging and being challenged by swordsmen from all across the globe, exposing him to swordstyles from all over the world. Andrew won some fights, and he lost some, but this was only the beginning for him.
Andrew spent the next two years posted in various cushy positions across the world, due to the favour he had earned due to his exploits as a UN Duelist. He was great PR and morale material as many of his duels were televised for UN forces, and later the world. Andrew fell out of favour with those Generals when he accepted a duel against a Chinese Representative, a Tibetan Shaolin Monk (who had been forced into the duel by the Chinese Government) and after a spectacular sword fight, lost the duel. Andrew was quickly reposted to the front in China.
In 2170 Andrew entered the battle proper in the bloodiest, most god forsaken conflict ever witnessed in the History of Mankind. Armed with one of the now legendary IF Carbines (Incendiary Fire Laser-Carbine), or Inferno as the UN troopers called them, Andrew spent the next seventeen years fighting in China beginning as a Private and working his way up to the rank of Captain. It's unsure when, but at some point, Andrew had a compact sword created specifically for close-quarter-combat and modified his carbine for use with one hand. During this time he developed a hybrid style of fencing and gunmanship.
It was also during this time that he began his long running feud with Yosho Roshi, who might have been the impetus for Andrew reviving his fencing skills for CQC. Only one man alive knows the specifics of this fued and that's Andrew, and he's not likely to talk about it. But they met several times during this conflict and as Yosho Roshi was playing both sides, probably worked together and fought against each other at differing points in this conflict. One thing is for certain: They were never the best of friends.
Andrew fought hard and survived that god forsaken conflict, but he'd been deeply traumatized from what he had seen. He accepted his medals, declined his promotion to Colonel, and he retired from active service. Returning home to become a literature and history teacher Andrew met up with his old friend Barrel Caskett who had done the same who had just begun his tutelage of three promising young men: Albert Wily, Thomas Light and Edward Cain. Andrew, however, was a man traumatized by war and started drinking himself to death. Food tasted like ash in his mouth and his teaching was substandard to say the least...until Barrel introduced him to a woman, who was also of Italian descent, named Teresa. Andrew's life took an abrupt about face, she nurtured away all the pain, let him cry on her shoulder till all the pain and mind-numbing alcohol was purged from his system and they married. It was a memorable day, Andrew was a handsome young man with thick dark hair in a ponytail, Barrel was his best man with all the stories of their youthful hijinks, and Teresa looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress.
After then Andrew became the best teacher he absolutely could be, sometimes joining Barrel on his adventures, but it was another young man who was Andrew's own star pupil. This young man was an athlete with a football scholarship to whom he taught advanced Literature for older students. Andrew took great delight in teaching the Boy everything his father had taught him and encouraged him to learn about literature and the arts, and the Boy was often a guest in Andrew's home where Teresa would cook fine Italian cuisine, and Andrew would encourage the Boy to pursue his interests in literature and the arts, and soon after Andrew began schooling his star student in fencing. During their marriage Andrew and Teresa raised four beautiful children who have long since grown up and started families of their own.
During a visit to one of his sisters home, a Humanform Reploid murdered Teresa, and hid the body. When he returned the Reploid was waiting for him, but he noticed no difference whatsoever, the Reploid imitated his wife perfectly to the smallest detail, and dinner went perfectly. For the last five years Andrew lived this lie until the Reploid finally went Maverick and tried to kill him, and it nearly succeeded - but even in his old age Andrew was a tough as nails soldier, and he killed the imposter with his beloved Inferno which had served him so faithfully in the War.
Andrew was a wreck. Barrel attended the funeral, but there was no body, and they mourned over a closed casket. Andrew long retired from teaching lived alone for months watching the world in silence...until finally he received word from his ex-student, the now infamous President Elpizo of Neo Arcadia inviting him to come live in Neo Arcadia. Andrew thought the matter over for an entire month before finally packing his bags and making the move, but it wasn't until the War with Repliforce that Andrew offered his invaluable expertise to his ex-student and old friend. Now, simply known as Andrew, he fights as a soldier for Neo Arcadia, runs a bakery in his offtime, and tells his stories to those who were willing to listen. After the disbanding of the Nation of Neo Arcadia, there were many young ones for whom Andrew was their teacher and their 'grandfather', as he liked to be called. Joining a country with a recognised army and borders was one thing, but to become a terrorist? A renegade?
Andrew considered the question seriously when Elpizo told him of his plans to leave the Nation behind and return to his organisations roots, but the decision was not hard for him to make. He couldn't leave those children behind. What kind of legacy would they leave behind if they lived the horrible things he lived. It had to stop. They had to understand why they were fighting, why Fighting is not the only way, and how to still hold onto the person inside. So Andrew took up his rapier once more and followed Elpizo into his new path, as Commander Elpizo the Terrorist.
But there was the betrayal of the great ideal. Elpizo went mad; and Andrew's entire life's work training the greatest man into his ascendancy fell to ruin to that great devourer of souls. Hate. And so Andrew vanished, and resurfaced on a new path to bring peace and prosperity to a world where his grandchildren could live in peace.
Andrew's legacy lives on as it was always meant to - for the betterment of mankind.
